I mean I knew he was good, (don't remind me, I know its early and I am not crowning the kid because of one game) but it looks like there will be no such thing as a sophmore slump for him.
I also appreciate his humility and approach to the game. His dad was one of my favorite players to watch as a kid and its good to see the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

I guess to make this a question, do you see him as a future leader of the Avs, do you think he has what it takes to fill Joe's shoes someday down the road?

Shue- I didn't REALLY think he was going to have a slump, I was just giving it back to you for once as a joke. Read it again.

SHUE- Its called being a hockey fan first, you should try it someday.
I love watching great players play great, that simple. I'm not going to bash the guy or not like him because he happens to play for the Avs. He is conducting himself just as well of the ice as he is on and deserves credit.
Once again, angry Colorado fans trying to rekindle something that died for most Wings fans long ago, its kinda sad.

i'm just glad that so far your prediction of him and wolski having sophomeore slump has proved to be incorrect, i think he's is learning from one of the greatest centers in sakic and that he will one day wear the c when sakic retires after a few more stanley cups

I predict... he scores 1,000 goals this season. Lol.

One of the pros about hockey for me is that the players generally tend to be more down-to-earth. Of course, there are players who stand out even more as just really great when it comes to their attitudes and personalities in relation to the game. I do like Stasny for that.

I'd love to see him lead the Avs one day. I'd probably prefer to see him get some more experience first, but then again, why didn't I say that for Sidney Crosby? I do think the way you're taught to approach the game is a big factor. Sidney Crosby's dad taught him that, just like Peter taught Paul.

Definitely, he's a great player. I even read about how Sakic said how funny it is that Paul's father was the leader of the franchise when Sakic was a kid, and how Peter kind of passed down the leadership to Sakic. And now it's the same thing except Sakic's kind of passing down the leadership to Paul. I was amazed with the game; he scored a hat trick! It was so awesome when he scored the third one! I would have thrown my hat, but I didn't bring one. I wanted to take off this one guy's hat and throw it, lol. BTW, Turco played pretty bad, he should have had one of Stastny's goals, and he should have had Wolski's game winner.

Allright Erica! Woooohooooo 1000 goals in a season, yeaaaah!!!

Came out of nowhere to me, even though he was 44th overall, it seems it could be a steal. You are right, it is one game but it is also carried over from last year. Genetics indeed. Look how many kids nowadays in the NHL come from hockey families. Gagner and Sutter looked good in the Super Series. Even Crosby comes from a hockey life-line.
I need to see more before the Sakic or elder Stastny comparison. Hard for me because they are usually late games so I don't see a whole lot of their games.

Well, he gave Brunnette 3 assists and a +3 rating last night....who happens to be on Shue's team...who just so happens to be who I'm up against this week. I don't like this Stasny kid until October 8th. Is that a good enough reason? lol

Yes, he is very much his father's son.

He had a great second half last season (outscoring Malkin in the last 40 games), had a great pre-season...and had a great opening game.

His dad was a great captain of the Nordiques, and one of Peter's best friends is Michel Goulet, who is Francois Giguere's assistant in Colorado.

12 months ago, Wojtek Wolski was Colorado's next breakout star...........but Paul has changed a lot of people's minds.

he's on pace for 242 goals this season. lol.

i think he's gonna be an elite player in a few years. although i can't really answer the whole take over captaincy question, though, cause i live on the east coast, so i don't see avalanche games

He has every chance to be better than his Dad. Maybe even better than Captain Joe. The Avs should do all they can to hang on to this kid.
