Most of my family is Republican. Nearly all of them pretty much are disgusted by GW Bush, but yet they still are only even considering other republican candidates for president. Why is this?

ALL people who get their panties in a big wad about political parties are stupid - both 'sides'.

Just FIND SOMEONE WHO REALLY WANTS WHAT'S BEST FOR THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY. Is that really so hard???

That is a misconception to say that if you don't like one republican, you should be in another party.

Being in one party doesn't necessarily mean you have to support everyone in the party. However, the majority of Republicans do try to support Bush just because he is Republican and that he is the president. There may be other reasons, but this reason above alone does not make it justifiable to support him whether he is doing the right thing or wrong thing. If the president is doing something wrong, it is the duty of the congress to set him straight. Otherwise, having a congress is redundant and unnecessary.

I think it's because they still support the general Republican platform and values, but they just got tired and angered by what GW Bush did in the last 7 years. I think a lot of Republicans are fed up with how Bush has performed, and they are looking for someone wiser and with better leadership qualities. Bush seems to be too simple-minded for most of the intelligent Republicans.

Everyone makes a mistake. Republicans believe in a smaller central government, and believe more power should be given to the states. Can't throw the bath water out with the baby. Just because GWB was a bad choice, doesn't mean Republican ideals should be abandoned.

Democrats believe the federal government should have more power, and therefore more departments to control the states.

Neither party is necessarily right or wrong. They just have different perspectives. Their candidates on the other hand can definitely be wrong as GWB has so illustriously displayed for posterity.

I lean toward being a Democrat, but I have no problem with what you describe. Perhaps they believe in what they would describe as the traditional values of the Republican party. If they do not think that President Bush adheres to these ideals, then there would be no point in throwing the baby out with the bathwater. However, I believe that everyone should consider every available candidate, however briefly, regardless of party affiliation. My allegiance to my country is far stronger than my allegiance to any political party. My allegiance to humanity is far stronger than my allegiance to my country. Some call that unpatriotic.

Okay, I like GW. BUT, when it comes to politics you cannot appease everyone. I look at the sides in a line, ex. Lib___Dem____Rep___Cons. Everything has a sliding scale, just because someone is a Republican doesn't mean they fully agree with everything on their parties side. Not all Republicans dislike gay people, not all dem's like gay people. So again, just because they label themselves as a Republican doesn't mean they have to fully agree with everyone in their party, it just means they like more about that side than the other.

I am disenchanted with some of the things President Bush has done or not done but I'm still a republican and will vote as such. I'm more disgusted with the democratic party than I am with Bush.

If Hillary and Al Gore were no longer in the picture, it might be different. Animosity towards the Clinton/Gore camp probably outweighs digust or frustration with the current administration.

Does it concern anyone that if Hillary gets elected, the presidency will have been in the hands of two families for nearly a quarter of a century at a minimum?

Great question. G W Bush is just the latest cancer that republicans have given the world. Look at his republican predecessors. Reagan gave us the war on drugs and papa Bush started the 1st gulf war (another great idea & huge success) and still, my fellow Americans dare to be stupid & support these azz hats.

Republicans aren't any more stupid than any other party... as with any group of people you have those who think things through and those who don't. But, you must remember all of George W's decision aren't strickly his... there are channels that he must go through, adivisors.. etc. Surely, votes and such are voted upon by both parties.. am I not correct? I vote for the canidates, not necessary the party... and yes... there are some that I've scratched my head over.. Clinton and his cigar!

Because Bush is an individual and not the Republican Party itself.
