need help on winning the festivals on harvest moon 64!?

if you lose the festivals, you can just reset and practice until you get better. ok, now for the festivals:
for the sea (swimming) festival: click a as quickly as possible. don't do the sliding click where it clicks fast but you don't really lift your finger from the button because it won't register. click the a the way you'd click a mouse. make sure to lift you finger, but still click rapidly
for the egg festival: always look in the chimneys closest to you and make sure you don't miss any while you're looking. get a majority of the eggs to win. when you find the right color show the mayor. you can't drop the eggs, you just look in another chimney.
for the cow festival: buy a cow as early as you can, brush it twice if you want to make sure it loves you, talk to it a lot, let it graze in the fields (build a fence so it won't get lost), but make sure to bring it in when it rains or when it is winter, feed it everyday and don't let it get sick. it also likes it when you milk it and use your bottle to get its milk (which you can drink for energy) and get it pregnant with the miracle potion) when i bought my cow my first spring i did all these things and after the baby cow was born it gave medium milk. if you take good care of your cow it has a better chance of winning.
for the horse race:
make sure you get the stamina carrot at the horse race (you trade in 500 medals for it from the mayor). get your horse from the green ranch as soon as you can, talk to it when it's little, brush it daily, and when it grows up, ride it all the way around your farm twice a day to train it (you can do this at night). on the actual race, press a slowly and at a good enough pace to keep up (don't let your horse fall too far behind, but don't use up all its stamina) and when you're close to the finish line (the music changes a bit) click a as fast as you can and use up the rest of your stamina. if you train it and have the carrot, stamina won't be a big deal and its easy to win
for the new year's festival:
to out-drink everyone, all you have to do is "train yourself" by drinking the wine from karen's vineyard. go into the cellar, go downstairs, and approach the wine barrel from the side so that you are not facing the barrel head on but are facing the side of it (make sure the rectangular thing is in front of you) then use your empty bottle and drink from it. you can do this as often as you like. by new year, you'll be able to out-drink them all
for the dog race:
feed your dog by putting food in its food bowl. you can put pretty much anything in there. make sure to train it to. the best way is to put it in your house, put it on one side of the table, stand on the other, and keep calling it so it runs (you might want to mute the tv because after a while it gets annoying). do this every night and it can win the dog race
make sure to show up to festivals, the townspeople like it when you do. and these ^ are not in order.

never played on 64, but i played on advance. go to www.gamefaqs.com they have all the cheat codes and walkthroughs for that game. that's how i got all the cooking recipies.

u must take care of them. chicken and duck : u must feed pet Cow and sheep: Pet feed milk/shave brush U must do it everyday, but you wont get the golden stuff thingy, just a glitch.
