That's like double what I bring home each month, and I'm a single mom with 2 kids, and I'm making it work. It's HARD but I do it. I could definitely live off 4000 a month.

I should hope so. Where we live in Fl. our mortgage is $1800.00 a month and then there is everything else on top of that and we have two kids and a yard full of animals. My husband brings home maybe $3500.00 a month and he is the only one working.
We don't get to splurge on things or go anywhere but at least the bills are paid. Good Luck

Sure it is if you live in a normal area. If you live in NY city, a apartment is almost that much per month. In the Southeast USA that is above average income. Espically if you are a frugal person. But if you go to ball games every weekend, golfing on all the others, boozing at night, wife spends $200.00 every 2 weeks on hair & nails, kids play EVERY sport available, then no,,,

Is that before or after taxes? And, do you and your wife like champagne or beer, or just plain old tap water? I think the majority of the people in the world live on less than that, yet many Americans find it difficult to live on a $4000 per month income. If you think it is not enough money, take a trip to Rwanda, and ask some of the locals what they think of a $4000 per month income. When my parents got married, my mother earned $60 per week, and my father earned $40 per week.

It depends on where you live, and what your monthly expenses are. If you have a large mortgage/high rent and cars that you're pay off, it might be tight. Make up a budget of your spendings and figure it out for yourself.

Also, remember to put money aside for a rainy day. You can't live paycheque to paycheque, especially when you have two children.

That equates to about $5500 New Zealand dollars. We live a comfortable and social life here on $NZ2500 per month. We got two kids, cars, plasma and all other necessities. But I guess it is all relevant to where in the world you live. (It wouldnt buy you a matchstick in Zimbabwe)

lots of factors there...you could probably do it, just don't go spending your money on drugs or flat screen TVs. Be practical and budget everything out.

Your wife could also find at home work or work nights at a call center or something if you don't want to spend anything on her. The kids are your responsibility though.

I don't think so... unless you have very low mortgage payments on your house and have no other debt. Just utilities alone are at least $ 1,000.00 (approx.) and then add car payments to that, and groceries, and entertainment, and clothes, and gym, and medical, life, car insurance (and all other policies), and club memberships, and extra-curricular activities for the kids, etc., etc. I really don't think that's enough for a family of 4.

Your joking right? I mean if this is seriously a legitimate question, I think I just lost all faith in humanity.

Until last year, I supported myself and my 7 children on $1200 a month and one of them is ill and on medication that costs $165 a month after insurance. Wow if we could make I am sure you can!

That is nearly 50K a year. In Oklahoma last year the avg. household income was 39k. So, while you;re probably not living in Oklahoma, you;d still do just fine.

Not rich but okay enough.
