I use a small glass jam container that i filled with those decorative clear fake rocks you can get at the store. Paperweights are most useful from my point of view when you are writing in the book and don't have a hand free.

I just hold the paper down but hey I am old and do things the old fashioned way. Your way sounds cool though.

Good question! I collect glass paperweights and never use them to weigh down paper. I usually dump a book on the corner of my papers and even use a small book to hold down the pages of another book when following instructions on something I'm making and don't have a free hand.

Usually I weight down what I need to weigh down with whatever I am drinking at the moment...though, this method can be fraught with mishaps when you spill.

Usually I use my paperweights to collect dust or be there to threaten to throw at people when I am frustrated.

I have a couple of beautiful glass hearts. I use them in my office, put them on stacks of sorted papers. If not using them, they just look pretty on my desk.
