i have recive letter saying i cant play cd or anything with out license is that rite

if you play the radio, that's free. if you have bought tapes or cd's to play, you have paid for the music and can play whatever you want.

Do you get any sort of benefit from playing that music? Does it make your premises nicer for customers/employees? Does it contribute to the atmosphere?

If the answer is 'yes' then you're using the music to help your business and will need PPL and PRS licences to pay money back to the people that are making that possible.

If the answer is 'no' then you might as well not have the music on!

Don't get me started on how ridiculously expensive they can be though.

If i remember correctly you do not need a licence to listen to the radio if there are less than 4 people working within the place..

Not sure how that would apply for a cd/cassette

where did i learn this kinda stuff??????

Sorry you have lost me. Do you mean at work or home? If your playing and charging people to listen then yes.

depends on what sort of premises you have, if its a shop or publice building you will need a public entertainment licence but if you are in your own home you dont need one.
