Wow, that's a really hard question that doesn't have a yes or no answer. There's a saying that goes, "don't dream it, be it." I think that applies in your case.

It's important to have dreams because they give us direction and focus. But dreams alone are not enough.

Are your dreams achieveable? If you have ever watched "American Idol," you know how self-deluded some people are. They thing that by just showing up in front of a TV camera, some non-existent talent will suddenly materialize. Maybe they think that they deserve celebrity so much that God will just make it happen right then and there. Well, unfortunately, things don't work that way. Dreaming and prayer don't make it happen.

It takes a combination of talent, hard work, and good luck to make it as an actress. There are alot of kids out there who think they are the best in their class, or in their school, or in their town. Some of them might be right. But even this is no guarantee of success.

If you really want to make it as an actress, and you have objective reasons to think that you have the talent for it, you will have to love acting so much that you're willing to undergo serious trials and pain to make it there. Unless you have some incredible connections with a producer or casting agent you will have to withstand alot of rejection and constantly believe in yourself after people tell you you aren't right for the part.

As a thirteen year old it's great to have this as a dream. After you graduate high school you will have to ask yourself the question again, alot more seriously and with a lot of research under your belt.

Good luck in your decision process. I wish you success in whatever you choose to become.

No. But it is definitely true that NOT following your dream gives it no chance. Unless you are planning to be a child star - which is really tough if your family isn't supportive to the point of being willing to move to where there are jobs, what you are going to have to do is get the most experience and training you can until you are independent. That means acting in school and community theater productions, finding out if there is any film or video advertising work not far away and researching to find colleges your parents can afford or that you can get scholarships to that have a good acting training program. Visit the colleges and talk to the students about why they are in the program and who has gone on to get work. One school to use as an example is Southern Methodist University which is an expensive private school which has produced a Pulitzer prize playwright (Beth Henley), a major actor (Powers Booth, who played Jim Jones in the Guiana tragedy movie) and me. You might look for summer programs that will provide training and opportunities and specialty schools like Julliard.

No, that's fairy tale book/movie hope, but you will probably find something pretty cool along the way that's involved with the field of choice that you still enjoy doing. There is the chance it will come true which in the end makes it all worth it.

You're better off to chase it if you have the opportunity because you spending the rest of your life knowing you did your best beats "I wonder what if" for the next 75 years.

Go for it..I'm sure your parents don't want you hurt if your dream gets crushed. If it does, so what, it happens to tons of people. Whatever you do, don't sacrifice your good judgement to make it happen. Stay true to yourself.

Some dreams can unfortunatley turn into nightmare ,go for your dream but also get your education first then you can always fall back on another career choice- The saying is never put all your eggs in one basket -if you dont know what that means its saying if you give everything to one direction then it goes wrong then you are lost

I truly believe that if you feel it in your heart that's what you really want to do then go for it.Even though your 13 your going to have to be careful and your going to need your families support. So talk to them and let them understand how you truly feel about being an actor. So if you stay on path the right way then yes your dream will come true.

Sorry to say, there is no 100% guarantee that following your dream will make it come true. BUT, if you don't follow it, there is a 100% guarantee that it will NEVER happen.

Even if there is a slim chance, wouldn't you want to try for it?

Good luck! Believe in yourself and you'll be that much closer.

It is a tough industry and a lot of scams in it. Acting classes is a good start. Remember that opportunity should meet preparedness. Be prepared.

I'm a dreamer myself. Like you, I too dream of a career which is kinda against the opinion of my family, who insist me to opt another one, in which i arent interested. But i've decided to show them that i'm not so good in their option by attending an entrance exam, in which i'm sure to not succeed. Then my way is clear.
Inspire from this quote :
If you think you're beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not , you dont.
If you like to win but think you can't,
it is almost certain you wont.
But life's battle dont always go
To the stronger or faster man.
For sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can!!!

If you tried your hardest you could really get somewhere. Don`t let your family tell you you can`t, because if it`s your dream and you put your mind to it then no one can make you stop. Good luck : )
