I know you are not suppose to cross over them to get into to the car pool lane, but I was wondering is it ok to cross over them to get out if your exit is coming and they do not break for another mile?

I live in California if that helps any.

NO. Double solid lines: No vehicle may pass.
Broken yellow line: May pass if movement can be made in safely.

If you have two sets of solid double yellow lines spaced two or more feet part are considered a barrier. You are not supposed to drive on or over this barrier or make a left turn or a U-turn across it except at designated openings.

It is never legal to cross a double yellow line in CA (and I believe it to be the case in any state)

Caltrans has been working on modifying the car pool lanes to allow for free access/exit to the car pool lanes and the double yellow lines for the car pool lanes may become a thing of the past in the next few years.

However, currently, the car pool lanes are still an exit/enter at the broken yellow lines only.

you crossed over the double lines that means NO crossing you could have exited the carpool lanes earlier too you have to wait until the lanes are broken up just look at the double yellow lines as a brick wall you don't want to hit that wall!

think of a double yellow line as a brick wall. You are not supposed to cross it for any reason other than an emergency. Yes, you can be ticketed for it.
Good luck

NO. You must wait for the broken line. You could be cited for an un-safe lane change.

Technically no. There are marked enter/exit areas, and if you pay attention to the road signs, you have lots of time to make your move.
