Take heart, your 2nd trimester is around the corner. Many women experience an almost overnight recovery from the 1st trimester woes. Seriously, one morning I went from feeling lousy and falling asleep at 8:45 to feeling myself again.
I asked my doctor about this and she said (seriously), "Have a small cup of coffee". I blinked my eyes in disbelief, but she assured me that VERY moderate consumption of caffeine is perfectly safe, and that a small cup of coffee or soda is just fine.

Just try to take naps when you can. Maybe you could get a sitter or some type of activity for your other 2 children involved in that would give you a little free time to rest.
It'll pass though, you'll probably only have about another 2-3 weeks of this super tiredness and then you'll feel a lot better. The second semester is like a little break in between, your almost there.

Hi, First I want to say Congrats!!! Second, I would to ask if you have had your iron checked lately by the doctor, its a little blood work. When I was pregnant in the past ( I have 2 children and am current pregnant with my 3rd after trying for over a year). But in the past, one of my first signs that my iron was low durning my pregnancy was that I become so tired and all I wanted to do was sleep or just rest!! My doctor started me on iron pills and within 2 days I was feeling pretty good again. All pregnancies of course are different, but I would suggest it to the doctor to have it checked. If its not that, I would suggest, trying to get as much rest as possible, try to have the children help you out with things around the house (depending on their age) and even your husband. Make light/quick meals instead of big dinners. Proper you feet up and rest every chance you get. Try soaking in the tub for awhile with a cup of hot tea!! Try to get to bed early, if possible, I know that can be hard with 2 children!! I wish you lots of luck!! Take care!

Very normal. I got pregnant the week of my period. I barely had one but the cramps were horrible. I slept from the time I got home from work at 4:30 PM to the time I had to get up for work at 6AM for almost two months. I slept all the time. Your body needs that I guess because they say the first few weeks of pregnancy are the most important for development. That is when all the nervous system and internal organs begin to develop. No. I'm 16 weeks now and my first trimester was pure h*ll to get through. I was ALWAYS tired and often wondered how I'd ever make it without getting fired. But...it DOES get better. You will have more energy in your second trimester. Instead of sleepiness I now deal with headaches. You're next.... :)
Good Luck...

Extra Vitamin B worked for me along with extra Vitamin C. Other than that just the mental work of staying focused or happy about things increased my energy.

As many naps as possible! If you aren't able to actually lay down and sleep, try relaxing on the couch and watching a movie with your other two children.

can you find a sitter or "mothers helper" to spend an hour or so a day with the kids so you can nap?
