My toilet flange is about 3/8 inch below floor level. Do I need a double wax ring, or will a single be sufficient?

Fisherman - I wonder if the wax ring will cost more than the $5 you'll be sending me after the OU/Texas game?

You should be fine with a jumbo wax ring as long as it presses into place when you set the toilet. You might want to consider a closet flange extender. A single extension, sealed with silicone, will solve any problems you might have.

Purchase a "thick ring" seal. Trying to use double seals often results in the seal sliding and blocking the discharge hole. 3/8" is getting close to too far below the floor. You could also purchase an "extender ring". Most Home Centers carry them. They come in different thicknesses. These need to be screwed down using the 4 holes in the original flange.

Set the toilet on the ring. If it crushes it is fine. They make extra large wax rings use one to start with if you are worried about it.
