My sons school allows them, he loves it, he's very proud of a weedy one that's smashing all the huge ones, about time they were able to be kids and play old fashioned games without someone stepping in and spoiling things, his headmaster even gave them an assembly on all the tricks to make the conkers winners. His school is very anti PC at the moment, they even had races on sports day, whatever next!

I have seen a lot of conkers on the ground over the last couple of weeks, but never anyone playing or even talking about this game!

Maybe it has gone out of fashion now there is so much other leisure activity available in the home?

My brothers school has a few conker trees.
The kids don't play a certain game with them, their favourite is throwing conkers at each other and other pupils they don't know.
They also like playing the game where they throw the conkers at passing cars as well!

They are banned in a lot of schools because the game is considered too dangerous!!

I still see dads collecting them with their children in the Autumn (But I guess they are for the Dads and not the kids!!).

There's probably a conker game on the net for the kids.

Conkers are banned at most schools because of the fear of injury! So I think the kids have given up on this wonderful tradition. Very sad.

Hello, Different children's games are played in different parts of the country which others never heard about, I never heard of conkers, but it may be a game I know but with a different name like bonkers. Ross

Thats probably because playing conkers has been made illegal, under health and safety legislation. That and because the the P.C brigade have jumped on the bandwagon, stating that it was discrimating against other "nuts and tree fruit" by only playing conkers!

Nor you will until we get rid of this nanny state government who have stopped children playing conkers in case a bit flies off and hurts them or they smack one into the eye.
