It's a very old bill: 1950 Series D from San Fransico.

Considering its over 57 years old, it's in pretty good shape. The corners are still there, anyway.

What's interesting is that the front seems to be offset-- the top of the bill has a much larger white margin than the bottom (which nearly has no margin at all).

Could this be worth anything?

Need any other info?

I do not collect bills but coins. This sounds like it might be a "Silver Certificate" or some oddball. If it is it has collecting value. The described bill sounds like it could have possibly been lifted from a collection (based on your description). Have a coin or money dealer look at it and get their opinion, but be careful not to get ripped off selling it cheap for quick cash. Do a Yahoo search for prices and identifying old money.

First of all the date on a note is not the date it was printed but the date it was authorized or when there was a signature change. It was probably printed up to the early 1960's. It was also not cut right which kind of lowers the value. It trends for %15 in grade fine to $25 in grade extra fine more if crisp uncirculated, such as $50 for CU-63. A trends value is about what the note sells for but is usually a little high. Dealers pay 40% to 50% less.

Contact the US Treasury on it. There are coin dealers too, but some are 'shady', so be careful, ok? Check on eBay to see what is 'out there'
