At this stage of pregnancy, the baby typically is head up. I don't know why she would have scared you like that. Coming up in the next few weeks is, on average, when the baby does its turn to head down.

Your baby has plenty of time to turn. Don't let that worry you right now. It could actually turn more than once between now and your due date. Once they pass the 35-36 week mark, the chance of them turning goes down because they are too big. But I've seen a woman at 40 weeks come in for a scheduled c-section because the week before she was breech, and when she got to the hospital, we did an ultrasound and the baby had flipped vertex!! We were pleasantly surprised. She was induced and delivered vaginally with no problems. So there is no guarantee what will happen, but it's way too early to be letting it stress you out. Good luck.

Well, you need to talk to people who specialize in helping women NOT have c-sections - it's called a Nurse Midwife. Certified Nurse Midwives at least in Illinois - have all of the training of an OB-GYN and a masters level nursing degree. The difference is that they care about you and especially about helping women - not have to have c-sections. There is a good chance that baby will move into position - you have alot of time for that to happen. There are procedures that can be done to massage the baby around into place. But most ob-gyn's these days aren't very familiar with that and just have a procedure in place that when this happens they do that - and they are not totally committed to helping women NOT have to have c-sections. Find a certified nurse midwife - and get one to help. Nurse midwives are the specialists when it comes to helping women give birth naturally and they advocate for you - calling the ob-gyn to jump in if an emergency situation arises. Of course, sometimes - there is a chance that your baby is breech because of a genetic syndrome or developmental issues - if there is a chance of that being a factor - then the c-section may really be necessary for your health and the health of the baby - really - get the c-section if it's for your health and the health of the baby! You'll be just fine in either case.

I don't know of any natural ways to force the baby to turn. Maybe the doctor does. There is still time for the baby to turn on his own.
50 years ago this might have been a real issue. But with the technology we have today, you will both get the best of care.
I can also tell you that you don't have to be afraid if you do have to have a C section. My daughter in law delivered our latest grandson by C section. I was in the delivery room to see it (AND get pictures). I was holding her hand the whole time. While she WAS drugged and groggy, she was aware enough to know what was going on, and she saw him the second the lifted him from her tummy. She healed beautifully afterward.
Trust the doctor, and please don't listen to all the horror stories.

You are still very early in the pregnancy to be worried about breach position. The baby has lots of time to flip.
About the c-section, I've had two, and they are no biggie. Put your worries in the Lord's hands and know that when the time comes, the health of you and your baby are the two most important things. 21 weeks is a bit too early to be scheduling a c-section if everything else if OK anyway. Good luck to you and your little one.

Is this your first delivery? My second child was born breech. She was over 8 lbs and it was the easiest of my deliveries. I had no medication and was able to deliver her without complications. This is certainly not the norm. You almost never hear of a natural breech delivery now that we live in the age of medical intervention.
I was able to stay calm and get the job done because I trusted my doctor, who trusted me and treated me like an intelligent human being.
You have a lot of time left, that baby may turn several times before you get to delivery. Read up, go to childbirth classes and be prepared to take control of your childbirth. Most of all, concentrate on developing a good working relationship with your doctor. If you don't feel good about the doctor you have, keep looking until you find one that works with you, not on you.

There is a good chance your baby will turn over the coming weeks. Obviously a c section is not the first choice, but when the time comes, all you will want is to have your baby. Don't stress yourself out about it now, just focus on having a healthy baby. Also c sections are different for every woman!

Well its waaay to early to say the baby will stay breech. The baby turns around a lot between now and 32 weeks. Look up external versions in google and read up on that. Its an option to get out of a c-section IF by chance your baby stays breech.

Edit- I just have to say something here the person who said C-Sections are safer than vaginal births is wrong.

I can't believe she has your worrying this early! Your baby has plenty of time to turn on his own and most likely will. You can also google "spinningbabies" and see what comes up. I know it's something designed to help the mom help the baby get into the right position for birth, but never needed to look into it further. Check it out-I know there is also a lot of support there just in case things don't turn out like you had hoped :)

often babies WILL turn sometime in the weeks before deliver but if they don't some doctors will manipulate the baby by pushing on your belly or there are also positions that you can get in to try to coax the baby to flip over. check some natural childbirth books for the positions. and ask your doctor about trying to correct the breach baby. you still have time... good luck!
