Why does everyone nowadays seem to hate everyone else?

Why is it, that people are more loyal to their political parties then to their country, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? What in the hell is wrong with some of you people?

The approval rating for Congress is horrible, the approval rating for Bush is horrible, yet some of you people just keep following along right on their coat tails. Why not return to what made us such a great nation in the first place?

FYI: If you answer this question with blames on your rival party and or slander / degredation of the question itself you will get reported, so don't waste your breath.

"Libertarian"

The reason the report comment is in there is because I want a real answer. Not some washed up blame of someone else.

What's wrong is GEORGE W. BUSH.

The Patriot Act? A total piece of Totalitarianism?
Over 750 SIGNING STATEMENTS?
The Military Commissions Act?
The legislation shoved through on May 9?

The man is a DICTATOR plain and simple. There is no longer three branches of government anymore.

Politics has NEVER been like this.

Nothing is wrong with you. Based on the caliber of your question, I'd guess you're mid-teens and just discovering heterosexual attraction and relationships. Even if you're in your late-teens, early twenties, this is regular. As you explore the options of different appearances and personality types, you'll eventually narrow down what you prefer, and even those preferences will continue to change. At this point, though, if you're feeling all these attractions to various boys, you should NOT have a boyfriend. It's evident that a committed relationship is not what you want or need now. Date. Enjoy your exploration. Use a condom.

Democrat, Republican ... it's all the same. Both parties have done an excellent job at destroying America.

"Libertarian" - interesting idea. But the fact of the matter is we live in a two party system. There is no room for a third.

Not because it wouldn't be refreshing, no...the reason is because the masses are afraid to go outside what they are comfortable with... D and R.

Ross Perot was the closest anyone's ever got to a third party.

Now if a Libertarian were smart, he would run as a D or R. It would be deceptive, yes. But for the greater betterment of the country.

Do the ends ever justify the means? I think so.

a lot of people don't mind putting down on here whatever they think of the opposing side, regardless of how hateful it looks. Many of them claim it is merely "ribbing" or "teasing".

The opposing side will often counter with "well you're hiding behind a keyboard and you would never say these things to someone's face in real life".

I can see both sides of it, though I admit I'm not innocent in this either. It takes a lot to wear me down to the point where I participate though- like Timothy said above, I am defending myself because someone thinks that since I am against the war, I must be anti-American.

Funny that, seeing as how I was born in this country. I don't see how seeing the cracks in our system and not believing we are a perfect nation means I hate my country.

I usually take the high road in debate here and look for a middle ground, as I'm not a Democrat or Republican. Everyone has their breaking point though... and some people on here are just plain cruel and they enjoy being cruel.

Blame it on the moniker I can't help myself...

Americans, and people and general, have a tendency to view the past with a romanticized view, 'the good old days' and such, let's not forget that a large part of what 'built this great nation' was on the backs of slaves, so without turning civil rights on its head, we'll never go back to 'the good old days' (thank god!).

From your question i gather you meant the questioning of authority that our founding fathers were famous for, but I have to point out that while they questioned the authority of King George, they did not question their own authority over social minorities such as native Americans, blacks, and women.

Lastly, in keeping with the 'good old days' it's very hypocritical of you to point to loyalty to the Bill of Rights, while simultaneously ignoring free speech, the first amendment, and coincidentally first in line in thy beloved Bill of Rights, while threatening answerer's with your intolerance of opposed opinion.

Indeed, what the hell is wrong with people today or even in the past for that matter that believe Rights should only apply to themself?

BTW: I'm sure King George thought the founding fathers were just 'wasting their breath'

I agree with Montreaux and 6'3..
We are so divided, we cannot discern our asses from a hole in the ground.
I noticed that when someone makes a good observation or statement on here, there is always a whole slew of party-name-calling. It makes no sense..I know it is "politics", but can people not think of a smarter retort?

The sad thing is, while everyone is busy shuffling the decks and putting everyone into rows, they fail to realize that the truest threat to us all is a lot stronger than just Republican and Democrat. Those "in charge" are banking on us spending so much time tearing into each other that they are free to do as they please. Sort of like heating a frog to boil before they even realize what is going wrong..

Its true. I personally try not to, but most of the time when I am "attacking" I'm actually defending myself. I hate being called anti-America, and being called a traitor and whatever. I personally feel betrayed myself when another American says I hate America. I think we all need to look past the parties and see us as Americans, like you say. It takes people from every party to do this so we can move past this hateful speech and slander that we see so often. It won't be easy and will most likely take a while, considering people are stubborn.

Temper, temper my brother :-)
Yes, your anger is justifiable, but lets not fall into the same pattern as some and "generalize" all.
Anger doesn't make you less of a "Libertarian" but could be used as ammo against you as an example of how some look at you or what you stand for.
My brother, like I have said many times before, "let it begin with you", if you don't like something be the example of changing it :-)
Don't allow others to take form you what is rightfully yours, "Your Beliefs"

I understand your frustration.

What's wrong is that people are too ignorant to see that partisan politics in this country is a joke. They won't open their eyes and realize that the two parties (democrats & republicans) are up to their foreheads in each others crap. So the fighting continues.

It's not about Dem vs. Rep. or Lib vs. Con....It's about power brokers and their serfdom.... When people get the blinders off and quit looking at this as "The Evil Cons or Rep or Evil Dems and Liberals" and realize that the upper echelon, Right, Left, whatever, isn't out for your best interests...Let me know...
