I bought two venus fly traps about a month and a half ago. They were doing great, growing new foliage and they both even started to flower! I trimmed off the flower stalks because it takes too much energy from the plant to flower and could have killed both. But for some reason, both of the plants have started to grow leaves that grow straight and normal, then they will turn and point down, then grow back up to make a loop in the stem. Some just keep growing and are fine with the loop, and others will turn black and the leaf will die at that point where the loop is. I give the plants distilled water or water that has sat out for a day or so. I don't really feed them or touch the traps. They live in a fish bowl terrarium with plastic over the top to keep the humidity in. They have perlite and peat moss soil. Not sure what the problem is.. has any one had this happen before??

Sounds like an auxin problem. Anyone spraying 2,4- D or 2,4,5-T? Contaminated water source?

I've never heard of this happening. They aren't in direct sun light are they? If you don't feed them, then how do they eat?
VFTs kept in a terrarium need to be fed. You can give them flies or pieces of crickets or other insects as long as the pieces are no larger than a fly. Someone once said here in Answers that you can't feed VFTs dead things, but that is not true. You just don't want to force feed them or feed them any kind of meat or dairy products. It could be that your VFTs are starving. They need to eat at least once a month. Have you used any kind of chemical or aerosol around them? Try to think back to anything you may have recently done differently.
Everything else sounds just right.
Good Luck
