Clarence Thomas. I don't agree with most of his political ideas, but I do respect how he has gotten to where he is.
Jackson on the other hand has exploited his own people for personal gain.

Clarence Thomas is a better role model for today's black youth. The reason for this is that Clarence Thomas promotes hard work, whereas Jesse Jackson promotes affirmative action, which views black people as inadequate and not being able to help themselves. Jesse Jackson also still thinks that black people are slaves and need to fight against the "white man", holding a grudge against them. Clarence Thomas is better for the black youth because by his actions he shows that no matter what the color of your skin, you can do great things in life, like becoming a Supreme Court Justice.
Affirmative action is nice in theory, but it doesn't work that way in reality. A role model is someone that the youth can look up to, and Jesse Jackson doesn't fill that spot because he doesn't offer answers to problems. He only says that black people are still victims and that they deserve something. If people felt that the world owed them something, and the government was willing to give retribution for things done a long time ago, then why would people try to work for themselves? That is just human nature to take the easy route. Affirmative action only facilitates laziness and keeps people in the same rut they were born in by not expecting them to rise above that.
Hopefully that helped, and I apologize if it sounded long-winded. People will disagree with me, and that is fine. But those are my two cents.

Anyone who uses Jesse Jackson as a role model doesn't have all the facts. He is a racist that has a small problem believing what he preaches. My evidence is the paternity suits he been on the wrong end of. Jackson, since his college days is a pig, and should not have been allowed to be involved in the Black, or Black Power movement. I suspect he was instrumental in guiding the Synbianese Liberation Army. I am positive his followers do not know his history.
Clarence Thomas had a small problem years ago with gender equality, although it seems he has matured into a respectable individual. Probably could be used as a role model.
What's wrong with Bill Crosby?

Jackson, no doubt about it. Jesse Jackson is a fighter in the tradition of Martin Luther King. Like King, he sees civil rights and racial issues as just part of a larger context of the whole issue of social justice so he fights not just for black people but for -all- people. He's a gifted speaker, he can talk for 45 min. or an hour and keep you interested and even entertained the whole time. Yes, he is guilty sometimes of the same kind of shameless self-promotion as all politicians and many clergymen, but why single him out for criticism on that?
Clarence Thomas is an Uncle Tom. The two biggest lies GHW Bush told in his presidency had to do with Thomas: (1) That he was the best-qualified man Bush could find for the job and (2) that his race was not an issue. Thomas himself knows he's an intellectual lightweight. He very seldom votes for himself, and VERY seldom issues an opinion. The interns he has clerking for him are young and brilliant and aggressive, and he lets them do all his work for him. He got where he was through affirmative action and he knows it, but refuses to acknowledge it, and wants to dismantle AA for succeeding generations.
Thomas was interviewed on 60 Minutes last week as part of a book tour for a book he's written (or had ghost-written). In that interview he spoke more words than he has spoken from the bench in his entire 15 years on the Supreme Court!
Actually, Thomas's own career is makes a good argument -against- AA since he got where he was not -despite- being black but only -because- he is black. When Republicans mischaracterize AA as 'the soft racism of low expectations' or whatever, they're talking about blacks getting a lift whether qualified or not, and that's Clarence Thomas.

Clarence Thomas by far. He does not make excuses, he worked his butt off to get where he is and never blamed others for his lot in life. JAckson is a shakedown artist who LIED about being next to MLK when he was shot. His message is that black people cannot achieve on their own and that whitey is holding them back and that simply isnt true but serves to keep those people dependent and that is a crime against them

neither. Clarence Thomas is in the middle of a sex scandal.
Jesse Jackson has gone from black activist to black cry-baby. He is always whining about stupid issues and isn't focusing on issues that truly need to be addressed such as poor school in black neighborhoods, the rise in black on black crime, teaching young black men and woman that an education and not drugs will make their lives better, and even the amazing things that black have done throughout history.

Neither one is a good support for anyone Thomas did what Anita Hill said he did, he doesn't belong on any court, he is a pure no good dog. Jesse Jackson is no role model he had a child out of wedlock with one of his Rainbow workers. All Jessie Jackson wants to have his face on a TV . Both of them are scums of the earth. Thomas don't vote old Republican Jack voted for him. Neither one of them are worthy to show their face anywhere.

Jesse Jackson - "You can never make it in this country because you are black."
Clarence Thomas - "Look at me, I made it and I am black."
You decide who is telling the truth, then you have your answer.

Without question it is Thomas. And the reason is, that he brought himself up from nothing to being a Supreme Court Judge.
That says alot. jackson has lied and cheated his way and he depends on people not making it and blaming others for his success.
