No, not true. There are lots of ethical companies that make a lot of money. Look at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and the Body Shop for examples. Of the oil companies, Exxon does the most for the environment and they have the highest profit, too.

Ethics can not be measure in the short term. A company may have good profits ethically and have not future problems. Unethical companies may appear to have lot more profit but will go down in the long run. See Enron and other in the dark-side.

I would say the opposite is true. If your customers know how they'll be treated, they're more likely to make referrals.
