A photo of my little girl, now sadly passed away.
Well thanks for that 1 thumbs down - you are one sick person! I hope you NEVER have to bury a child. Hope you're proud of yourself.

The little bag that contains the two gold soverigns given to me by my father-in-law, the broken fob watch given to me by my parents (wasn't broken at the time I hasten to add) and the cufflinks bought by my Dad for my 21st birthday that happened 11 days after he passed.
Great question though. Makes you realise how much you would be prepared to see burn and how much is easily replaceable.
Must back up my PC so that can melt and put more pictures in a fire proof box. Actually scrap the first answer, my box of photo albums, it's my best link to my past and my daughter's heritage.

I hope this question makes us realize how important things are to us. I would recommend all those who said photos or pictures to have your pictures scanned and uploaded online for safe keeping and for those that said their laptop, I hope your house that is burning is worth far more than your laptop. We may lose things that can never be replaced, we may lose loved ones that will never leave our minds, but the last thing I want people to do, is have people mourn for you in your funeral. Just imagine, how sad everyone would be if you went with the fire.
Check out the link in my source. It's lyrics to the song, "Think of Aaliyah"

Very good question! It makes you think about what WOULD be important to get in the event of a fire... and as you said, apart from my family and pets, my husband and I keep all of our important documents in an easy to get wooden box my Dad made for us when we got married. I have all of our family pics scanned into my laptop, as well as copies of important documents with the contact phone numbers in the advent of an emergency. The kids know what to do and where to go IF they get separated from us in a fire. So I think all bases are covered. Then my husband and I would grab our kids, pets, document box and laptop and run like hell out of the house!

Probably nothing, I've seen too many people killed or severely injured by house fires....I'd get out as fast as I could.
At most, I'd grab my wallet which has my driver's license...but only if it was on my way out and I didn't have to look for it.

My fiance and I had the pleasure of experiencing an electrical fire in the last place we rented...my first reaction was fear because I didn't have renter's insurance (I do now let me tell ya!) second was to get my kitty! I didn't even think of anything else. Luckily we didn't lose anything in the fire thanks to my fiance's quick reaction. But, aside from my kitty I think the next thing would be my purse! Everything important is inside that thing! ;-)

Well my house did go on fire a few years ago and the only thing that you care about getting out is yourself and your family.

it was a toss up between the box with photos in of my girls when they were young, and the box with my diary's in i have kept them since i was 16,both irreplaceable but i went with the photos, but you have made me think if god forbid that ever did happen so i am going to put both boxes next to each other and put them in the hall cupboard, and if i can get out of the front door i will be grabbing them on the way out.. :)

My trunk of family photos and other memorabilia. I purposely put my most important things like that together in a trunk so if there ever is a fire I just grab it and am outta there. Mmm
