My laptop has this orange tint to the screen in the bottom left corner. Sometimes the location changes and it will be along the left side or the right side of the screen but it always settles in the bottom left. It's just starting to drive me up the wall so I wanted to see if I could figure out what it is.

-It's on a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop appx. 3 years old.

I squeezed the side of the screen (gently) where the discoloration is. No effect. It hot at the base of the screen but that is along the entire base. And I know I'm not supposed to touch the screen (but it happens) but lightly tapping it makes the color ripple out and the orange disappears for a slipt second.

Hmmm...

The fact that it changes location makes this an interesting question.

It is definitely not magnetic interferance. LCD monitors are not affected by that.

Generally, I woud think this is a backlight issue. But the fact that it moves around both horizontally and vertically, I know it isnt.

Try squeezing the outer frame of the panel, near where the tint is. See if that has an effect on the coloration. Remember, don't squeeze it hard.

If it moves it or makes it go away, it could simply be a poor connection. But I doubt that is the cause.

More likely it is due to heat. Feel the area near it and tell us if it feels hot.

It sounds like a magnetic distortion. Is there any magnetic field near the computer? A hard drive, another monitor, or something else. Otherwise the LCD lamp could be going out. The fact that you said it moves, makes me think it is something magnetic.
