and started a fund to give to obviously money desperate good old school alternative bands (when alternative really was alternative), that perhaps we would not have to hear Modern English on a Taco Bell commercial, or Violent Femmes on a Wendy's commercial or The Ramones on a Pepsi commercial?

All hail the almighty dollar.

Zep nor the Stones are hurting for cash, but they liked the sound of more cash, and sold the rights to some of their music to commercials in the last few years.

All hail the almighty dollar...or did I mention that?

Hey, I like that idea. Still, there is some debate as to the exact financial condition of some of these acts. They might be doing better than you think. The Violent Femmes make for an interesting story. I guess they were performing gigs earlier in the year while Brian Ritchie slapped a lawsuit against Gordon Gano for missing royalties. But I'm certain that the Wendy's commercial has a lot to do with it. Could you imagine that much turmoil going on while they are still forced to play together?

The Violen Femmes have whored out Blister in the Sun so many times it's ridiculous. I have no idea how the song relates to a double cheeseburger though.

The Ramones thing really kills me because they are one of my all time favs, starting back in 1980 at the tender age of 8 when I was starting to become musically aware. I'm not really a fan of the other bands you mentioned so it doesn't affect me, but the Ramones thing does hurt. With Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee gone, who has control over that catalogue?
