Actually because they believe that there one in the same. No interweving, no other bs, its because people view ROMANCE as love, when it isn't. Love can be romantic, but never the other way around. So we create fantasies that get crushed by the reality of the fact that NO individual is that simple, or that stupid, we just pretend.....

You must be talking about Young People.
Most ADULTS are able to distinguish the difference, but we as a society have been taught that sex should be abstained from until we find the one we love. Therefore the two are intertwined but not necessarily the same thing.
