40 lbs. in four months is, actually, still within the healthy weight loss range. It averages to ten pounds a month, or about 2 1/2 pounds a week (most doctors recommend no more than 2 pounds a week for lasting weight loss, but as someone who lost 60 lbs. over the course of six and a half months almost seven years ago and has kept it off, 2.5 lbs. a week is fine).

One of the BEST ways to do this is, and the very way I achieved my weight loss is...dun dun dun...EATING HEALTHY! It's that simple, and it is the only healthy way to achieve your weight loss goal. Eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruits as well as lean protein and complex carbohydrates (that means get out the whole wheat bread and throw away the white bread), and eliminating large amounts of processed sugar, in particular those found in sodas, candies, and many breakfast cereals, will result not only in weight loss, but in you feeling better than you've ever felt in your life. Having a small salad with low-fat or fat-free dressing before lunch and dinner helps as well! I am a vegetarian, which also helps keep weight off by eliminating animal fats, but it's just as simple to do by eating lean meats. Get in about 30 minutes of exercise at least four times a week too! A little weight training, some walking, some dancing, some exercise or real bike riding all count as exercise.

It's not going to be easy, and it will take dedication to give up the bad foods that we love so much. But it doesn't mean you can't have them occasionally (by "occasionally" I mean once or twice a month), and you will feel so much better and find that you have lots of energy.

Good luck!

Weight Watchers is probably the best bet...the first time I did it, I did really well. I just feel like I don't have time for it anymore. The past month I have started losing weight without trying at all. I had my son 7 months ago, so I don't know if at this point my body is just ready to get rid of all the extra weight.
I gained 65 lbs when I was pregnant, 2 days after I had my son, I left the hospital 30lbs lighter.

40 lbs in 4 months is a LOT to lose so quick. Probably isn't so healthy. A friend of mine lost weight that quickly but that was after she had gastric bypass surgery and she was sick as a dog!

Yes, with Weight Watchers and Tae Bo! Losing just 2-3 lbs a week is suggested, so 40 lbs. is nothing. It does take discipline though. Plus if you nurse, like I did, you burn extra calories!

I did, but you wouldn't want to loose it the way I did. I got so depress about so very personal matters and my weight seems to lessen quickly, one time, in a day I lost almost a pound. I got my own weighing scale at home.

Free weights! They work best! You will tone up nicely and the lbs will drop. Also you can do this in the comfort of your home and it is easy.

I've lost 45 pounds in 1.5 months after birth, thanks to the power of breastfeeding. Nursing helps contract your uterus back down to its pre-pregnancy size and shape. Plus the perspiration and energy is burned during each feeding. But you must keep yourself hydrated. Your baby can rob you of nutrients, so eat healthy and drink plenty of water. I hope this helps!

You can do that safely if you average 2 pounds of weight loss per week. I did Weight Watchers online - worked for me.
