nail biting is supposed to be a habit that is like smoking. you have to replace the habit with another oral type of fixation like chewing gum. also, there is stuff you can paint on your nails that tastes really bad so you won't want to put them in your mouth... i've heard you can paint your nails with vinegar instead of buying the stuff. the only other trick i've heard of is the negative reinforcement... put a rubberband around your wrist and every time you go to bite your nails, pull back on the rubberband and let it snap against your wrist. after a while, you are supposed to think of the nail biting as a painful experience and be able to stop. don't know if it will work but it's worth a shot if you really want to quit. good luck!

just about all drugstores carry a product called no bite/neverbite its a clear nail polish that tastes awful

put a rubber band on your wrist and snap it when you notice you are biting your nails do that often enough and your brain will associate pain with biting your nails and you should stop biting your nails eventually

scratch a bar of soap to get a litte bit under your nails (as much as you can)
i like tabasco so that never worked for me same with lemon juice

buy a big bag of dumdums(little lolli pops-sugarless if you can get it) suck on those to keep your mouth occupied...try sugarless gum or hard candies

Use clear nail polish/hardener, and once it's dry rub a little petroleum jelly on your hands with some of your cologne or deodorant. The taste will definitely curb your biting habit, and the polish/hardener will protect your nails so they can grow. You may have to use several applications if you're a dishwasher.

Buy a jalepeno pepper or jabanero pepper, dig out the seeds with your fingers. You'll stop biting your nails. Keep your hands away from your nose and eyes.

Acrylics was a super answer. You get instant pretty results and they're impossible to chew off (almost) without taking off half of your natural nail.

good luck

Get an acrylic or gel set. They are very nice and you will not have access to your real nails for biting, besides the fact that you'd think they would be too pretty to ruin.

try acrylics for a while. that way there is nothing to chew off. i just answered another similar question a sec ago with some ideas. Just keep the tabasco in a handy place and reapply. The other idea (and how I quit) was to keep rubberbands on my wrists. When I caught myself chewing, I'd pop myself. I know it sounds silly, but it really helped remind me not to do it. Also, promise yourself a shopping spree if you can quit! That is always GREAT incentive!

It was really hard to stop biting my nails. It took a lot of time. But I did it. You just have to be concious of it. Stop yourself when you realize you are doing it. Try clipping them instead. When they start to grow and one breaks, that doesn't mean you need to bite them all off to make them even again. Just clip the broken one and file it neatly.
Good luck.

Brush your teeth so nothing goes in your mouth without you noticing, polish your nails nicely, use the bitter flavored clear polish that tastes gross, or wrap your nails with band-aids or wear gloves.
