Peace to you funny, pretend alien guy. Great question.
Life is a struggle. In order for an animal to survive he must get the proper resources. This is where conflict comes in. There are not enough resources to go around. As such animals ( which includes humans) battle for resources.
Combat is natural and healthy. Without combat the weak would be allowed to survice and reproduce and this would weaken the entire cycle of life in the universe. Watch the natural world. Water battles earth. Heat battles cold. Animals battle each other for food and security. Even mating animals of the same species battle for the chance to reproduce.
Life is not easy. It is a struggle, a challenge a competition.

Our species evolved through the pressure of competition for limited resources and survival of the fittest. Aggression, power and control are rewarded in that scheme. In the animal world, animals compete for what they need to survive. But in the human world, we are sentient with free will, so we compete not only for what we need, but for what we want. War among peoples is a scaled up manifestation of the aggression, power and control that served our ancient ancestors so well.
But our evolution continues, in mind if not body. It will take time, but we are on a path eliminate war. Things are by no means certain, and there is still great danger. But the trend is clear. 100 million died in wars in the first half of the last century. Less than 25 million in the second half.

Welcome traveler. I wish your visit was better. For some reason a lot of people on this planet are power hungry, and the one way the know to ensure their power is to threaten and kill people who, even peacefully, oppose them. The people who don't like conflict and hurting others, are easily scared by the thought of people who want to hurt others and start wars and kill. The peaceful people can't successfully confront and overthrow people in power unless they too become like the people that scare them.
We are a very territorial, predatory, and protective, of our property, family, and surroundings. There is no reason for all of the violent behavior. I think we will eventually 'all get along' but its going to take a long time. Maybe you could spread some of your wisdom and help us mature some to become a less violent species. Who knows, you might just have started a new kind of interplanetary peace accord.
Good luck in your travels.

People seem intent on destroying others because we are creatures of habit and of natural aggression.
The planet in which we were born from has been hostile from the beginning. Predator/prey relationships programmed us to fend for ourselves, be stronger and smarter than the others, and to know our enemies.
Do not judge us by what Mother Nature has given us. It is our way.
But we can know peace and we will have peace when the time comes.
For now, however, you better fly back to your home planet because we don't appreciate your kind here. You're planet is going to be invaded.

welcome alien sister, you see we are individuals with a free will, and we tend to be pretty self centered and selfish and a majority of us tend to be foolish, who are easily swayed into fighting wars on our leaders call.also some research has shown if we are not directly too much affected by war, we seem to enjoy it, as it gives a powerful excuse from our mundane existence. all these things combine to form a powerful recipe for a war. by the way how do you people reproduce?

Two people, even with the best of intentions, can see the same information and come up with completly opposed view points. They can also be completly convinced that their view is the only right one.

It's mostly due to human greed, and fear of missing out. Most wars are over land and resources.
