Missed my period and so on. Took a test yesterday morning for it to be negative so decided to take another in 1 week. However, all yesterday I felt little tiny cramping like the onset of my period, but my little tiny cramping tends to only happen within an hour of two of actually starting. This morning I awoke to excrutiating pain at 2 am. This type of pain was normal over 4 years ago before I got pregnant with my first, but has never happened since. And since cutting dairy out of my diet, those tiny cramping have been almost non- existent. So my main question is could I have miscarried or is my nearly painless periods luck run out?? I am asking for personal experience at this week time period because the books don't talk much on it! And I don't want to just go to the doctors because we are military and all other military I have spoken with that miscarried so early got routine DNC's even though they really aren't nescessary when the baby is still just a compilation of cells!!

Sorry, I did forget to add that of my last two full term pregnancies, the pregnancy test did not show positive until a week and a half after missed period, so I still have another week which is why I would be retesting in 1 week.

And I did start bleeding along with the pain. My norm periods are heavy the first day and second then lighten up drastically the third and over before day 5. This morning's was heavy like usual.

It could very well be a miscarriage. I had one around 9 weeks and was basically told this by my doctor: THe problem with EPTs and First Response is that it tells the woman TOO EARLY that she is pregnant. The majority of women who are not practicing protected sex (most of which are trying to concieve) experience a miscarriage rate of 30-45%. Of this, only a few actually know they've miscarried. Usually the miscarriage just occurs as a "heavy period" or with some additional cramping. When this happens, a woman just thinks her period was a little late, it comes heavy and the world moves on. But, once you've missed your period and you take a test and you see that little plus sign, a woman is INSTANTLY attached/involved. If she were to miscarry usually she is heartbroken. If she hadn't taken that test though, she would have just moved on. Most miscarriages are a result of chromosonal abnormalities. It doesn't seem to make it any easier to take though, but those are the facts. I didn't leave my house for an entire weekend after losing my first child on a Wednesday. When I had my miscarriage, I refused a DNC. It can leave a scar on your cervix and/or uterus and, in my opinion, is completely unneccessary unless your body cannot expell the material naturally. They rechecked my blood levels about two weeks later and did another ultrasound to make sure all the material had passed and I was fine. I would say that if this was a miscarriage, unless you experience some prolonged bleeding (more than one week past your regular cycle of bleeding) or excruciating pain, I would just tend to myself. It could also be an ovarian cyst. So, next period if you expereince the same pain then consult your doctor.

With a negative test, its likely that you were not pregnant. Periods will change from time to time, over the course of the last 6 -7 yrs I have gone from 25 day cycles to 32 day cycles.

If your next cycle is late, or different, or if you have any discharge or bleeding between periods, see a dr. Pregnancy or not, there can be issues that can cause abnormal periods that you want to get checked out.

It sounds possible, but the negative test puzzles me. I had a miscarriage and never had a DNC because I left for college a week after the miscarriage. When I got there, I got sick and had to go to campus nurse. I told her my history and they gave me a pregnancy test, it still showed signs of the hormone from when your pregnant, even though I wasn't. My body didn't realize it yet and was still producing a small amount of the hormone. The cramping sounds like a symptom. You would probably be bleeding if it was a miscarriage.

several years ago i took a pregnancy test and the result was positive. i started my period about a week later with no abnormalities. then i retook a pregnancy test a couple of weeks later and the result was negative. just my personal experience.

are you 100 % positive you haven't accidently eaten anything with dairy product ? maybe retrace your steps....did you eat at a friends house ? sometimes my husband and i will ask if the food we are eating is vegetarian and will be told yes. then find out there is chicken broth, or a spice that is not vegetarian. i'm sure you know exactly what i am talking about, but just though i'd say anyway...

it's not uncommon for women to miscarry at that early stage of a pregnancy, if there was one, and no a D&C isn't necessary. if the pain is over, it's over. who knows what it was.
