I love Wierd Al. I also love anyone doing recognized songs with new lyrics (such as Bob Rivers or the CthulhuLives.org site). Or recognized songs in new styles (such as Gimme Gimme's).

I would like somewhere else to look. A group, a website, somewhere to expand this part of my music choices.

These artists might be interesting, all funny or quirky, but a lot of them I listed at the top write their own stuff. The covers boys are towards the bottom of the list.

Buckner & Garcia
Bob Rivers
Guildo Horn
Dr Demento (get the collections or box set)
Chunky A
Loudon Wainwright III
Tom Lehrer (a bit retro)
Spike Jones (ditto)
Pet the Pig
Barnes & Barnes
Asylum Street Spankers (I like these guys)
Da Vinci's Notebook
Manic Hispanic (cover The Clash etc in cholo style)
Hayseed Dixie (did AC/DC songs in bluegrass style)
Iron Horse (ditto, but the victims were Metallica)
Beatallica (what it sounds like - Beatles mashed with Metallica. They have a website, I think.)
Apocalyptica (you may know them. Classical music Metallica.)
Smash-Up Derby (funny live mash-ups of various songs)
Richard Cheese (lounge lizard jazz cover versions of everything from Nirvana to Beyonce)
Rockapella (As the name suggests, pure vocal arrangements of famous songs)
Black Velvet Flag (jazz versions of punk songs)

Apologetix is a great band. They're songs are parodies of familiar songs. I especially like All The Stalls Stink, Parody of "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 and Choirboy, Parody of "Cowboy" by Kid Rock. They have a website and there are also a few pages dedicated to them on myspace. Have fun listening...
