I've just started Uni and there's a really good looking guy who goes to my Aikido club, he is slightly older (don't worry I'm 18) and I really want to talk to him. He seems really quite reserved to be honest, and doesn't talk much, but I just want to get to know him!

Trouble is, I'm lacking greatly in confidence! Does anybody know of any ways in which to build self-esteem? I'm not ugly, and people say I am pretty but I only feel slightly confident when I have a couple of drinks in me, and I'm the last person to resort to drinking to build my confidence up!

So therefore, just looking for tips and advice about building up confidence and self-esteem as I haven't even spoken to this guy yet and already I'm writing myself off.

A couple of drinks is not the way to build self-esteem! You answered that part of the question yourself! A couple of drinks alter the way we preserve things. We all feel we're lacking in confidence when it comes to someone we're attracted to. I'm 46 and I still get those feelings. It all boils down to a fear within us. We start thinking about the negative outcomes. I suggest scratching out the negatives. Build on the positives. Think of all the positive things that may happen if you were to approach him. He'll more than likely feel the positive energy that your omitting. Remember he too may have a confidence issue. By you making the advance, you may be helping him build up his self-esteem in the process!
Oh yeah, and from a guys point of view, it's very, very flattering to be asked out by a beautiful lady. Gotta go to look up Aikido now! Good luck, best wishes, be confident in all your adventures!

See the handicaps and their zeel, they still fight on and strrugle. Why are you lacking and loosing heart, Almighty has decided for every moment in ones life no need for any hasty decissions.

Trust in fate. Your thoughts alone will bring you what you want. Only if you trust in them completely. No doubt.
