Hi, I have suffered from dizziness for the past 16 months. I went to see my GP about it and they did blood tests which all came back fine. I went back about a month later and they suggested it could be to do with diet, my dietician was convinced that it wasn't but tried different things, none of them worked.
I went back a couple of times and on the last time got told that I would just have to live with it.
I have now changed my GP surgury.
A couple of weeks ago I went to see the new GP who decided to do blood tests, i have now had a letter from her saying that other health professionals have looked into this problem in great depth so she isn't going to do any further investigation!
I also have a mental health problem and my psychologist doesn't want to give me anything until my dizziness is sorted but nobody will look into it.
I really feel I need to go back because the dizziness has been really bad lately but I'm scared to go due to this letter.
What can I do?

Ears have been checked - they are fine.
Blood pressure and blood tests are the only tests that have been done.

You poor thing!! really sorry to hear about your trouble there sweetheart, let me start first of all by saying you're NOT wasting your GPs time if you've got a problem then going to visit them is the best thing that you can do. I used to suffer from dizziness and it turned out that it was basically Anxiety/Panic attacks which I did not know I had!!??
It could also be either too much ear wax or maybe as you've said you might not be eating enough food so If I were you I would try and eat even just that little bit more each day, take better care of yourself I really hope that this has helped you and I've enjoyed answering your question.
Best of luck
And take care xx

Do not give up searching for an answer! You deserve to have a solution, it's just a shame that it takes so long nowadays to get a propper diagnosis. Get your family doctor or find a new one who will send you to see a neurologist and an ear nose and throat doctor to look into the problem further. Also see a neturopath as they can help figure out the problem too. If you keep looking you will find an answer. You are not wasting your time. Good luck!

Are you sure this isn't to do with an ear infection? This area controls balance and that's why some people feel dizzy when they have a cold/flu.
Another suggestion is Vertigo, (this has nothing to do with heights) my wife gets it really bad at times and literally can't move, she can't stand or walk as the whole room is spinning.
The attacks can come on so strong as it makes her vomit, does this sound familiar?
Has your doctor checked for this?
She takes a drug to keep it under control when she gets the attacks.

Maybe you have vertigo. I had a friend who did and she was dizzy all of the time while doctors couldn't find out why. It's just how her brain is wired that makes it happen. She pukes a lot from it too. Ask them about it. I think there is a medicine to make it less severe.

Keep looking till you find a doctor that is smart enough to figure out what your problem is. Don't worry about wasting his or her time their getting paid a lot more than their worth anyway!!!

Have they checked you out for Meniere's Disease? You are not wasting your GP's time. Put him/her in touch with your psychologist so that between them they can sort out this problem. You can't just be left in the middle and feeling ill. Hopefully, it is just anxiety (and no wonder with what you are putting up with) and either GP or psych can give you something to remedy it. I wouldn't wish Meniere's on you. Good luck.

I am not a doctor, but you may be looking for too big a problem, sinus problems can cause dizziness, you do not need to have had a cold, nor feel stuffy or bunged. And thats just one of the minor causes. The thing is you can get alternative medicines for dizziness, try homeopathic cure Silica 30c that will weedle out a few of the possibilities but you have to take it properly and on time.
You can also get Tissue Salts for dizziness, they are similar to homeopathic cures. A health food store should have both, like Holland and Barrets or a lot of chemists have them and the shop asst will give you advice.
If you self treat yourself and get well you will feel better for taking positive action, if none of these work try the doctor again.

I would go to see a homoeopath. Invest in your health! Doctors have very little time to get to know you personally and understand what your individual needs are. So many conditions can be addressed very effectively using homoeopathic remedies and you can learn a lot about yourself in the process!
If money is an issue, find a homoeopathy college in your area. Ring up and ask them if they run a low cost clinic. This way you get the fresh ideas of the students and your case is overseen by a fully trained, experienced homoeopath too.
I hope this helps you.

Go to your GP with a friend or relative as a witness. tell him/her that you are sorry to insist but the dizziness is very real and still bothering you and preventing your psychologist from treating your mental health problem, therefore you wish to be referred for a cat scan - this is where they take a proper look at your brain to make sure nothing is overlooked. Tell him you wish to have a wide spectrum blood test as well. In the meantime. try eating plenty of food with iron in like spinach, dark cabbage etc in case you are simply lacking iron (anaemic). Hope you feel better very soon, try not to worry too much as that may make you feel worse!
