After he quit, Eddie died, and from what I heard around the horn, with Batista being out for injury soon after, Cage would've been in line for the world title. It's all theory and happenstance though, considering it was a month or so after Cage left that Eddie died and another month when Batista got injured. It's really a tough call, because his first (and last) match on Smackdown was against Batista (possibly for the world title, can't remember). Christian jobbed like a *****, but it was still a world title shot.

Either way, you can't argue the success Jason Reso's had since leaving WWE. He's been given more room to shine in TNA, and on occasions is given the main event ball to run with, and once became focus of iMpact for two months. His characters grown, his credibility's grown by leaps and bounds as the only undefeated person in TNA, and I don't think I could ever have forseen such a push for him in the WWE. Even in the Ministry days he was a whipping boy, and he almost became the Jannetty of E&C. They really misused Christian, and they missed the boat on cashing in on the Peepulation which is ridiculous considering how over he was, even as a heel. But Christian's in TNA, and doing well, because that's how the Instant Classic roles

He may have been IC, US or ECW champion by now, but not WWE or World Champion.

No because he wasn't exactly a large guy and he didn't seem to have the material to be a major brand champ. If he would have won a championship it wouldn't have lasted very long.
