I remember some time back that when going to almost any movie, you would be entertained for at least 2 hours. Now it seems that the 2 hour movie is the exception to the rule.

Definately. Look at the older movies from the 60s, and possibly go back even earlier. They used to be real value for money, lasting almost three hours, sometimes even four. And it wasn't a case of quantity over quality either. Now, we have all these fancy special effects, but we can't even make the average movie two hours long. In fact, I think its reduced in the last 10 years. From an average of 2 hours, its now 1-1.5 hours long.

I kind of disagree. These recent movies are all MORE than two hours:

Transformers
Spider-Man 3 (and 2, for that matter)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Knocked Up
Grindhouse
Pirates of the Caribbean (1-3)
Across the Universe
Into the Wild
The Assassination of Jesse James...
We Are Marshall
Zodiac
Babel
Blood Diamond
Casino Royale
The Da Vinci Code
The Departed
Dreamgirls
Flags of Our Fathers/Letters From Iwo Jima
Inside Man
Miami Vice
Superman Returns
The Lord of the Rings
Star Wars Ep. 1-3
King Kong (remake)

...I could go on and on. I think movies are actually getting LONGER!

Well by any means not the most fantastic movies but my list would include. The Matrix, Wanted, District 13, Casino Royale, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Live Free or Die Hard, 300, Running Scared, and Shoot Em' Up
