See, my mother will be vacationing in Orlando and going to Disney World in Dec. She has a 3 bedroom suite that she is getting as part of some timeshare program she is in. Now, my husband does not think we can afford to go to Disney World, even though we will not be having to pay for lodging. So, our price would be plane tickets (or we could even drive) and the park tickets. DW is a once-in-a-lifetime thing for a lot of people. Would you just say, "screw it", and splurge and go to Florida for a week and just pay for it later (we do both have jobs and paid vacation, only 1 child), or be "responsible" and stay home?

Go for it! You can do Disney on a budget. Don't feel pressure to go to the parks every day. You can relax at your hotel pool or hit some free things at Disney. Below are a few of my families favorites:

Going to downtown Disney, wander through the stores, bring extra clothes so the kids can play in the fountain, ride the boats in the water behind Downtown Disney.

Fort Wilderness, which is a camp ground at Disney World plays a movie every night in the middle of the camp ground. They open with a singer singing campfire songs, Chip & Dale come out, there is a camp fire where you can roast marshmellows, then they play a Disney movie up on the big screen. The whole experience is free (marshmellows not included)

You can take monorail rides. If you get on the resort line, then you can get off at each stop and explore the different hotels.

Most people come to Disney World are so rushed to experience the parks they miss getting to relax and take in this really cool place! Enjoy!

Life's too short not to enjoy things. Look for good deals on flights and park tickets. Remember that you will be bombarded with things to buy at the parks - and everything is expensive. We carried back packs with water and snacks and tried to eat breakfast and dinner at our hotel. Lunch at the parks is expensive enough. We held off on buying souveniers until the last day and each child was given a certain amount to spend. Everyone should experience DW once in their life time and who knows your mother may kick in with some extra cash to cover some of your expenses as a Christmas present.

Do it. Enjoy, you only live once. The kid will love it. Disney World is pretty impressive and huge, so there'll be lots to do. It will definitely be a vacation to remember.

No way.

All those noisy children and irresponsible parents.

Give me a bit of peace and quiet anytime.
