I was in a minivan, we were driving down this very long dirt road trying to take a short cut.... driving driving driving...and then all of a sudden there was a creek running at least 3 feet deep accross the road. I couldn't imagine having to turn around after that long road but I said ohhh no, don't even think Going through it.....and you know my sister put the pedal to the metal and rushed right through it. I was so scared...but somehow we did it.. in a minivan of all things!

yes. but in arizona, they come during monsoon season. the washes (dry river beds, ditches) fill up quickly and rush really fast. there's even a law called the stupid motorist law, which states that anyone who tries to cross a wash and must be rescued, has to pay for the rescue. it may sound harsh, but believe me, it happens way too often when people pass signs that say "road closed".
but that didn't happen to me. i had a 4x4 jeep with off road tires at the time. i was late for a family dinner at my now-mother-in-law's house out in the country, so i was in a hurry. i underestimated the wash (even though it had been pouring), and i'm from texas originally, so i didn't think it was a big deal. i've driven through lots of standing water. but this water was standing still. i got to the middle, and my jeep started to moved laterally. the water was already high and it was rising fast. not a good feeling! it was raining, my jeep was moving sideways, and i was alone. but if i had freaked out, it would have been much worse. big deep breaths, then i put the jeep in four wheel drive and pulled myself out. i've never been so thankful to have an SUV!

I crossed a fast flowing stream in a truck during a horrendous thunder storm in Venezuela. Our destination was a beach on the other side of the mountain. We nearly got washed away. Shortly after we arrived, the clerk at our hotel said they'd closed the road, and we ended up being their only patrons for the entire week-end.

Frequently - there's a stream that flows across the driveway at a friends place and an actual ford just down the road from here.

I am in Calif and that is a place where there are quakes. But each time we are glad it is over. I am in southern Calif. so the quakes come every so often. I felt one the other day it was a quick jolt like it was a split second and it was gone. I knew it was a quake. San Francisco has the worst ones they have streets open up with holes. it is so scary. Probably because their streets are so steep. no where have they so many steep straigh up hills. (((Brendan))) well it is the last days Jesus said their would be earthquakes in different places.
