irv has a reality show coming up shortly on mtv and i'm sure he'll address the name change and his relationship with ashanti. i thought the name change came after he was investigated b the feds for money laundering and involvement with organized crime. maybe he's trying to go mainstream and get outta the gutter a bit!

My guess is that he saw or read about an increasing number of murders in L.A., and across America, and he didn't want his record label associated with such a notorious crime.
As for your second question, no, his biography has never stated that he was ever married.
