Hi everyone,
I'm 16 years old(grade 11). I've been in a private school my whole life, including going to boarding school for the last 2 years. I'm currently doing correspondence courses at home for a semester instead of being taught in a classroom. My grades have always been average, but for my grade 11 year I'm really trying to bring all of my marks up to a higher level. I participate in doing alot of community service work like the animal shelter and hospital.
I'm really wanting to go to Harvard Law School and I'm just wondering at this point is there anything in particular I should be doing or not doing..
I'm also hoping to apply for the scholarship that is rewarded to 3 Canadian students each year.
I'm really worried that if I don't start working on it now, I won't have enough accomplished to get in.
Please help!
=)

There is good news and bad news.

The bad news is that it is probably too late for you to get into Harvard as an undergraduate. If you improve, you can probably get into a good school -- but Harvard won't be accepting someone who has average grades for his first two years of high school.

The good news is that Harvard Law is a graduate program and doesn't look at your high school grades. You need to go to the best university that you can get into for your undergraduate degree. You then need to get a very high GPA and score high marks on the LSAT exam.

Good luck.

PS -- Yale has a better law program.

You know, I think that the best thing that you can do is to go to another university as an undergrad and then apply to law school. Harvard is a pretty tough place to get into, and I believe that there are many other schools that are just as great. The school that Im attending is awesome and so far i'm loving it! So maybe check out other schools that are not so difficult to get into to see which ones you like/dislike. Remember, the college experience is not only academics, but living in an environment that is suitable for you. You may go to Harvard and dislike the overall atmosphere.
Good luck!

Well, you can alway try harder in college and get a very hight GPA there. Harvard will mostly look at that. You don't get into Harvard Law School until you finish 4 years pre-law at a college.

Harvard doesn't just look at grades. They look at potentials, your living conditions and status in society.

Also understand Harvard College (the 4 year school) this last year rejected 1,200 applicants with PERFECT SAT scores.

You need to get into a good college, and do well there. A professional school, such as Harvard Law, will not look at your high school grades. Keep up the community service, though. They do like that!

Well your best bet is to go to the best undergrad program you can and be a total all-star there. Good grades, tons of extracurricular activities, high scores on the LSAT, etc.
