silliest questions that continue to show up ad nauseam in the R & P. I know there are those trite old sayings like there are no stupid questions or the only dumb question is the one not asked. Well, they lied. If you can’t come up with five, that’s cool. Yesterday, I learned that saying “duh” is rude. However, a special exemption can be allowed for these.

1. Anything pertaining to Rock of Love.
2. Name some good bands?
3. Why do they have rock and pop together in the same section?
4. Why did System of a Down break up?
5. Was Nirvana emo?

Bonus question – Why does everyone hate on MCR? :-)

1.Can you name me some really good bands/songs? Classic rock like GnR, Poison, Nirvana (WTF???? Wanna smack them with a sock full of nickels!)

Man, I'm bummed. This was a great question and I was too busy at work yesterday.

It looks like all the good ones are taken, but I would like to emphasize the Rock vs. Rap debate. It's just an excuse for silly kids to have sharp opinions and show how little they know about hip-hop. I honestly believe that they think all you need is a microphone and a drum machine and all of a sudden you're Mos Def. (or more likely 50 Cent, I wonder how many of them actually know who Mos Def is, or think he's an actor)

And, as much as I have fun with it, I wouldn't be sad to never see the "Create your dream band" question.

Dude, Nirvana was SOOOOOOOO emo. You know, it's emotional. Duuuuuh!

Preach on! I couldn't agree more. That and I'm noticing more and more that people don't know the difference between the three there's. Kills me every time I see someone go there when it's they're. ARGH! I'm not even a grammar fascist, but it just drives me nuts.

Oh, and good call above to the person who brought up the "where can I download for free" thing. That was actually the only reprimand that I got for telling someone to get a job because they were ruining the music industry.

I give people latitude when it comes to its vs. it's because it just seems backwards to me. I actually had it wrong for more years than I care to admit to (I still sometimes have to stop myself and remind myself of the rule), but in general I really think it's a shame that people don't care anymore. Like you said, typos are typos and I can't get too hard on people because sometimes I type too fast and make some of the mistakes that I've been complaining about (an lord knows that I'm the resident Yahoo Answers King of the Run-On Sentence), but you can just tell that about 75% of the people don't care which I find kind of scary. I frequently have to stop myself from snidely pointing it out to people. I can't stand the replace the "s" with a "z" thing either.

What about "Where did all the good music go? Why is there no good music anymore?" or anything that the person could EASILY look up but is too lazy. And when somebody asks "What are some bands like the following that I might like?", and regardless of what the bands are, someone says "Fall Out Boy, MCR, Cute Is What We Aim For, and the Beatles."

You did pick some of the good ones.. but others that I have answered at least a milliion times..

1. "MCR (or other current band) vs Led Zeppelin (Pink Floyd or the Beatles)".. These bands weren't even in the same genres! Everybody just wants to beat their drum on which they prefer.. Ugh..

2. "OMFG!!!1! ______________ is the best band eva!!!1! They RAWK my sox!" For the love of god, somebody grab me a noose from which I may hang myself...

3. "What is (insert pop star)'s home number (or email)?" This stuff usually isn't public for a reason.. Cause they don't want 12 year olds calling them or emailing them.. Move on stalker!

4. Any question that ends with "no haters" I don't know about you, but to me, that's a dare!! >:}

5. "Is (insert band) emo?" ties with "Why does everybody hate emos?" I just want to bite their little fingers, so they can't type anymore!! But then I realize that would be gross, cause who knows where their fingers have been... I digress....

I think the ones you named and many of the other regulars are right on.

Prof - don't get me started on grammar! Now, I have to get my soap box. Between "there," "they're" and "their" - there's also the difference between "it's" and "its" AND "you're" and "your." One of my greatest grammar peeves, though are the people who think that adding a mere 's to a word pluralizes it.

I have a minor in English, so I am pickier than most people. I can however, forgive typos. They happen to all of us. However, I can't abide by poor use of the English language. Especially when you're a native speaker!

1 & 3 are my biggest issues right now.

If I saw one more "Rock of Love" question yesterday, I was going to have a behavior right here at my desk. Just about any entertainment site could have provided that information.

And #3 is horrible. Right along with it is "why can't (insert sub-genre here) be separate from rock?".

Edit (again): I do have a few beers in the mini-fridge here, but it was never booze for me. Since it was during the day it was always tea, which is not fun to gulp if it's too hot.
