It does help certain people with hair and nail growth. I actually had my regular dr suggest I take prenatal vitamins instead of regular vitamins cause it would give me an extra little boost. And there are no side effects....it is basically just takin a high powered multi-vitamin.

I am no healthcare professional, however I recognise that my sister requested the healthcare professional this question while she used to be seeking to get pregnant. She had issues getting pregnant, however her healthcare professional had her on prenatals the whole time. She took them for no less than a yr earlier than she ever received pregnant. The healthcare professional instructed her it could begin constructing the indispensable nutrients for while she did get pregnant. She on no account skilled any issues from taking them. She had very thick hair to start with, so there used to be particularly no approach to recognise if it used to be worse with the nutrients. I have a different buddy in a equivalent predicament and her OBGYN additionally has her on prenatals and they're simplest seeking to get pregnant now! So well good fortune! Hope this is helping!

I agree with Mthcowgirl on this issue, taking the vitamins won't hurt you, just give you additional energy. I took my "prenatalins" for several months AFTER the births of my last 2 children.
Maybe it does work on hair, skin, and nails, I can't say for sure, because I've always had a full, thick head of hair.
Give it a try for a couple of months and see how it works.

no side effects really. they contain a high amount of folic acid which does promote hair and nail growth and make your skin clear so you are correct!!
they are also known to speed healing time after an injury.
but, increasing folic acid in your diet will help too.

I took them for a few months to try and get my nails to grow (I had acrylics removed) but I didn't notice any change in nail or hair growth.

i have never heard of anyone doing it on a reg basis. It is common to start them while you are trying to get pregnant.. I would just contact your doctor and see what they say about it. I dont think that it would hurt anything to take them.. but better safe then sorry

everyone has heard this and it's all crap. prenatal vitamins do not have anything in them that regular vitamins don't except maybe some extra folic acid.

They could have too much iron and things like that. You have to keep in mind, you're taking vitamines made for two people, and giving them to just one person. In essense, you're going to be taking too much. You're especially going to take too much iron.
You should ask your doctor.

No you aren't. However, it isn't good to do this for an extended length of time because sometimes it's not good for you to get more than the recommended daily allowance of certain minerals.
