I have to say Terry Bradshaw.

His best year was 1975, his completion % was 58%, 18 TD, 9 ints. His lifetime completion percent is 52, he has 212 TDs, and 210 interceptions.

He's a below average NFL qb that played for a great team. When I hear people mention him in the same breath as Joe Montana I cringe.

Joe Nameth was worse than Terry, but Terry is more over-rated. Nameth had 173 TD, 220 INTs, lifetime completion % 51%

Kordell Stewart was pretty overrated back in his day, especially during the 2001 season. Can you actually believe that he only throw 14 TD passes that year, made the Pro Bowl and was in the thick of the MVP race. His was a multi-threat, but he wasn't any good as a quarterback. Ben Roethlisberger is better than he ever was.

Honorable mention also goes to Michael Vick, Joe Namath, Jake Plummer and Drew Bledsoe.

Nope. it fairly is Tom Brady. 2009 Week 6 in the direction of the Titans. Brady threw for 380 yards and equaled his checklist for 6 touchdowns thrown in a interest. nonetheless this time he broke a document for many landing passes in 1 / 4 as 5 of his six got here interior the 2d quarter, it grew to become into as quickly as a interest the area the Patriots stomped on the then win much less Titans 59-0. ... No he did not rush for any yards. even with the shown fact that remember this. He did not play that total interest. think what could have occurred if he had endured to play and so as that they did not call off the dogs. He could very solid have thrown for 12 touchdowns and someplace virtually 900 yards in a interest. that's so ridiculous this is absurd. ... And mike i'm now not determining a element right here i'm merely answering the question. Brady's larger. this is now not my opinion. those are chilly tough soccer archives. he's the friendly there is in each and each statistical classification... coach me somebody larger. Oh yeah did i point out that this interest grew to become into as quickly as performed for the period of a snow hurricane... Ridiculous. Dude even nonetheless your asserting usual it fairly is nonetheless Brady. His entire overall performance is extra suitable once you think approximately that of the touchdowns. And the reality that he did not throw a elect in that interest. Colin threw an interception so as that deflates his suited score as solid as his misses. Brady via assessment had a ultimate score.

Hands down has to be Michael Vick.

Even without the dog fighting charges, Michael did not live up to half of the hype he received. He did some amazing things at the QB position, things the NFL has never seen from that position but he also was not much better than an average QB. Once teams forced him to pass vs run (and some never could) the Falcons became a very average team.

Michael could use his legs to save plays but his arm always let him down. In the end, he eventually proved to be a HUGE disappointment.

what is up with all these idiots who say elway, brady and manning??? elway has 2 rings and the 2nd most wins for a QB in history. brady has 3 rings for a reason. and manning is a living legand...you are all just jealous...

-Jim McMahon was overrated. he had loads of help from sweetness and the greatest defense ever.
-Vick is one of the most overrated QBs of our time. he is a great runner, but he has no accuracy
-Romo might be. hes a superstar after only 4 games. ill need more time to believe
-broadway joe was overrated. he was pretty good, but the ONLY reason he's remembered like he is is becsue of "the gaurentee."
-Ryan Leaf is probaly the most overrated QB comming out of college. i never liked his attitude and didnt think he would be a good NFL QB...however, i didnt know it would be that bad...
-Jake Plummer had one GREAT season in his career
-Jake Dellhomme as well
-Rob Johnson got a pretty big contract by the bills basicaly playing one game for Jacksonville. he never did anything

there are many more, but its late and im too tired to think...

Yeah since you say History I have to agree with Namath. Look at the numbers without the name. Tell me who would want a guy like that. Tell me that he is REALLY a HOF QB with those numbers.
Peyton Manning is clearly over-hyped, he chokes in the playoffs, which is when it REALLY matters.
As to Big Ben being carried by his RBs, what do you expect. That was how the team WAS COACHED. You notice this year things have been changing. Also how can a guy be the most overrated when he has only played THREE SEASONS. This is his Fourth season, so he can't be the most overrated in history.

"he's been on a great Patriots team since he was drafted. "

You make fun of other people for their lack of football knowledge, but this is completely wrong. When Tom Brady was drafted, the patriots went 5-11 that year, and when he finally started, he inheritied an 0-2 team that just lost to buffalo. Tom Brady is a great QB not for the SB wins (which is a team stat), but simply the fact that he makes every1 around him better. He made stars out of no-names (Givens, Smith, Branch), who disappeared once they didnt have TB as their QB.

But in answer to the question, I would say the most overrated QB was Micheal Vick. He was an excellent runner, but thats all he was. The only thing his throwing arm is good for is for using a cattle prod.

EDIT: RYAN LEAF??? GOD, why didnt I think of that! He is the most overrated QB ever. Jeez, how did i miss that?

First of all, anyone who said Peyton Manning is a moron. He's got a Superbowl ring. He runs the offense for his team. The defenses of his teams have been consistently below average. Just be realistic for once, will ya?

Here's the real answer and I can't believe anyone has not said this yet.

Ryan Leaf.

Of course we all know he sucked now. But remember all the hype leading up to that draft and how many people said he should be picked instead of Manning? How is anyone in football history more overrated than that?

I definitely have to agree with the Ryan Leaf answer.

Others I think were extremely overrated when they got drafted, but are seen as washups now: Rick Mirer, Giovanni Carmazzi, Akili Smith, Daunte Culpepper and Jeff George.
