Adam & Eve

The couple is Adam and Eve (though in this specific story they are simply called "the man" and "the woman". The name "Eve" is not mentioned at all till the end of the chapter.)

Actually, it does NOT say each wore 'A fig leaf'. It was fig leave-S... plural. So some of those depictions are mistaken.

Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they SEWED FIG LEAVES TOGETHER and made coverings for themselves.

In many cases Adam and Eve's fig leaves were not included in the original art but "censored" later by adding the fig leaves. For example Masaccio's "The Expulsion from Paradise" was painted in1427 but the fig leaves were painted on around 1680. It has since been restored to its original look.

Oddly, they are also depicted having a navel. Someone formed miraculously out of dust rather than being born from a womb would not have a belly button.
