I put the cd ist on the bios, rebooted, it came up press any key to start dvd or cd, then the error message comes up again.

Original Question:
When I reboot my computer it says 'missing operating system'?
I have a new computer, just unplugged it to rearrange and when it was back together I turned it on and the error message comes up. I tried putting in a disk and it still comes up 'missing operating system'? I'm a computer moron. please help me.

This is a brand new system 5 days old. It is wireless as well if that makes any difference, and the cd I was booting from was the Vista that came with the computer.

i would take the cd out, start the computer first, then insert the cd and try it that way

Are you pressing a key to boot from the CD? If so, I would say that the CD is not made bootable. If it's a CD you made yourself, make it again and make sure that it is bootable.

probably means your cd or dvd with the os on it is bad. i have seen this before and that was the problem.
