Apply Afbau's rule nd then count the no of electrons in s, p, d and f

Else the s electrons corresponds to l=0 what ever the value of n
p correspond to l = 1 for n equal or higher than1
d to l=2 for n equal or higher than 2
f to l=3 for n equal or higher than 3
