Yes, for all those reasons, and state programs to encourage investment in those technologies. Mass has MIT, California has Cal-Tech.

Your states are not completely accurate.
The most advanced US states in Total R&D performance for technology are CA, MA & MI.
The most advanced US states in technology doctorate-granting institutions are CA, MA & NY.
But as far as the forefront? It depends what you call the forefront. Don't forget about TX, FL, & OH as well.

Yes, it is due to a large population not socialism(progressives). Add socialism and it will fade away....

America has led the world in all fields and it isn't due to socialist regressive.

progressives/socialist are regressive.
