I'm a lifelong Chicagoan who grew up in a split household. My mom a die hard Cub fan, my dad a White Sox fan.
I'd love for the Cubs to win, but as long as the Tribune Co. owns them they never will win a WS.
My dad worked for the Tribune for 40 years and they are just interested in the bottom line. Sammy Sosa, Mr. corked bat and steroid user is proof in the pudding of that. Fill the park with idiots who want to watch home runs and a losing team. Nothing more than that.
Mr. Wrigley was just as bad.
For the past 20 years or so, it's the
"in" thing to be a Cub fan. Go to Wrigley, drink beer and call your friends on your cell phone and say 'hey look at me"
The White Sox have given back more to the community in 10 years than the Cubs organization could possibly think of ever doing.
The park that i grew up across the street from, now has 4 baseball diamonds for kids to use.
I don't know of anything that the Cubs organization have done.
With that, yes, i'm happy that they lost, but hope some day that a real owner who knows baseball, finally buys the Cubs and commits to winning.
BTW, i still have 2 cousins who are diehard Cub fans for 40 some years, and they dislike Carlos Zambrano, just as i do.
It's ok to follow a team, but if you're a fan it's also ok to be critical of them. The Cubs lost last night because they still rely on the long ball and lack a balanced team.

I'm a lifetime Cubs fan from Chicago with a home in the Phoenix area. I still go back to Chicago every summer. This is a tough one for me. I just look at it this way. Whoever wins this series makes me a winner. I would love to see the Cubs or the D-backs go ALL THE WAY. But it's been a long time for the Cubs, and their fans deserve a winner. I was in Chicago two years when the Sox won it all. I'd like to see the Northsiders get their chance too.

I AM!!!
:)
And I'm dating a Cubs fan who is now even more upset with me than he was earlier.
[I'm a Sox fan and I really don't have anything else to cheer about, so I've been taking full advantage of the Cubs loss.]
Oh well, who told them to have a stupid rally already?
They look like fools, which is nothing new.
[Chicago is the GREATEST city in America. Period. Don't diss my home, Johnathon C.]
---oh, and look what happened, they lost again!
darn.
:)
