We've got a nice big 90 gallon tank that we just love... with African cichlids... one is pretty big, the rest are smaller average goldfish size...

A couple of them bred... Not sure which ones.. but we have 4 babies in there (Sorry for the terminology, I know it's incorrect.... I don't know anything about fish)

The baby fish are getting a bit bigger now.. and coming out from their hiding spots more.. all the cichlids protect the babies.. it's cool to watch..

The question is... how many babies are we going to end up with... and are we going to have to get another tank etc.

I've noticed the big one quite often digs up a lot of the gravel along the bottom of one of her favourite hiding spots...so it's down the bare glass... Is she getting ready to have babies again... I don't know if this is the fish that had them in the first place...

How many fish could I potentially end up with? The babies in there now make 13.
Thanks

I agree with PeeTee that independant research could benefit you greatly. There are a few of us that have cichlids too. Please realize that the word cichlid does cover probably upwards of 10,000 species of fish, all which grow to various different sizes, have different water chemistry needs, spawning abilities, and so forth. Knowing what species you have is one thing that will be a big help. Most all cichlids do dig in substrates though, that is not an uncommon bahavior. That the parents are watching over the fry is a better clue, but it'd be alot easier if you could post a few pictures or clips. Depending on the age, how many males and females you have and if they are all in the same species, that is what I'd use to say if you can expect more and if a 90 gallon tank will be able to house all of them. I'd be happy to give you my opinion, but I'm going to need to at least see some pictures of these fish.

The digger is probably a male. You should get a good book or two,so you can learn the proper names of all of your fish and also some clues as to breeding schemes of the different species.
A 90 gallon tank will hold a lot of African Cichlids if they are of the smaller species. If they are Frontosas, then two or three full grown ones would be a tank full.

I actually have cichilds or should i say had. I have one bumble bee cichlid he is very very aggressive he killed every fish i put in their with him. Cichlids love to dig and make burrows i would recommend putting logs for hiding places. you have a pretty big tank so chances are your fish may breed again. cichlids are territorial as well. I would have like for my cichlids to have breed. The digging is very natural for a all cichlids. I have a 75 gallon tank. I can't even buy any more fish because he would killed them. someone suggested that i take him out of the tank before i put new fish in re arrange his logs and it should work. well it did not work.
