I thought he did his best acting in "The Last Temptation of Christ." He caught a lot of flack for doing such a controversial flick, but I thought he was so good!
I also enjoyed his role as Mr (John) Clark in "A Clear and Present Danger" a great action pic based on the Tom Clancey book!

The Last Temptation of Christ hands down but he did a great job on Faraway so Close & Wild at Heart...gosh I kind of have a chush on him, shame on me!

Mr Bean's Holliday.
lol, well, he was the best thing in it.
He was great in a small role in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zizou, too.
I can't think of anything that I've seen him in where he hasn't been great in the role.
But his portrayal of Jesus in "The Last Temptation of Christ" was probably his bravest role and utterly captivating.
