We just moved. We have a queen size bed. Yet when we went to move the box springs upstairs, we were surprised to find the ceiling at the bottom of the landing is too low to get the box springs through. The mattress itself bended enough that we could get it through. Is there anyway we can cut the box spring frame to get it through or should we just buy a couple of single box springs? Will cutting it and bracing it back together completely destroy the stability? I had to sleep with my hubby on a full size last night, so I am anxiously, sleepily, waiting on a reply! Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't cut the box springs. You will regret it because there is no way to fix them back up to be usable.

I've heard of this problem before. There is a special box spring that you can buy that actually folds somehow to allow you to get them up the stairs. Check with your mattress store.

I had the same problem last year. My guys were able to remove part of the stair railing and bend the box spring slightly to get it up the stairs. If this isn't an option for you I can't imagine how you could cut the box spring. Some people have opened up the side of the house (creating a kind of trap door) and craned furniture in through the opening. Or maybe you could get two full size beds? Good luck figuring it out!

Unfortunately QUEEN is usually defined by a single sized box spring. KING is two TWIN.

I'm really confused about the height to the ceiling; no matter the grade/stairway/etc.

NO do not cut the box spring.

Personally I enjoy a FULL. it puts me closer to one I might be sleeping with,,,and if alone a full is plenty of room for one.

I have removed/reinstalled double hung window sash to get a queen box spring to the second floor.

At least box springs are light.
