I recently heard of an elementary school that change the childrens' song Baa Baa Black Sheep to Rainbow Sheep so none of the children in the school would feel singled out and made to feel bad about who they are. Am I alone in thinking this has gone waaay to far?!

TechX69. I'm not trying to "start trouble", or get a "knee-jerk" reaction. I am asking because I want to know peoples opinions on the issue. Pfftt! Geez!

This country is turning into a bunch of politically correct Sissy's!!....everyone is just WAITING to be a victim or to be insulted!! and the ones who come up with this mindless idiocy are the VERY ones who make others feel offended!!...no one ever would think of a child's song in a negative way until someone MAKES it into something that it is not, and tells others that they should be insulted by it....its disgusting....I respect people who speak whats on their mind in simple to the point language....even if I don't agree...Political correctness is just another way to create victims.

i agree i think it has gone really silly, i can understand the reasons behind it, to stop discrimination and everythin, but the whole baa baa black sheep thing, that is ridiculous, u can get black sheep!!!! i mean, no matter what u do, n things have been done for years to stop dicrimination n racism u will never stop peoples feelings and opinions no matter how much we dislike them, so i mean yeah within reason some political correctness is understandable, bt in todays world it has just gotten out of hand just like everythin else.

so no ur not alone.

Yes, come on. How many children really think that when they hear that rhyme, they're talking about people and not sheep. Have you ever seen any rainbow sheep. I'd laugh so hard if one of those kids raised their hand and said to their teacher,"excuse me teacher but they're aren't any rainbow sheep at any of the farms or zoos that I've been too. Enough already, it's okay to lie to the kids as long as you don't hurt their feelings......

Yes.

Waaaaaaaaaay too far.

Don't put up with it!
Protest and complain, whenever possible. If it's a store, let the manager why you plan to shop elsewhere; also write the company.
Shine the light of publicity on this nonsense, by word of mouth, writing letters, talk radio, etc.

Find ways to be "politically incorrect" wherever possible.

And what about kids who are offended by rainbows?
Why don't you shake them up by calling the school district to tell them that your child has been having nightmares about evil animals with strange, multicolored skins. He says it's reminds him of something scary they sang in school, but doesn't want to talk about it. (Say you don't want to identify the kid, to avoid embarrassment. Don't mention "rainbows". Try to keep a "straight face" on the phone.) Just try to get them concerned and confused. Most of these stupid, knee-jerk policies go away, when they get exposed or examined for side-effects.

I think that is hysterical! A lot of people have done studies with children of different races, and apparently little black girls that were given a white baby doll and a black baby doll, and then asked which doll was the "good" doll, there was an alarming amount of little girls who picked the white doll. It has historically been "The black sheep" "Bad guys wear black hats" or "I got a black mark on my record," Is this fair? No! But I think we go a little far in our "PC".

yes, too far. Eventually, everything will be offensive to someone and we will all just walk around silent. No radios, no TV, no holidays. What a silly thought that noone should feel offended or singled out.....isn't that what builds character? What's wrong with not agreeing with something? There are tons of things I don't agree that go on in this world, so I choose to surround myself with things I do like. It seems to me that the more you focus on something, bad or good, the closer it draws you to that thing. I agree....it's gone way too far.

Are they even allowed to change the words to a song? Is it legal? And, I agree, PCism is out of control and people need to get a grip, go smoke some weed, take some Prozac or something. Geez.

Way too far, today in the news four firemen are being punished (some fined and one demoted) for flashing a light on four gay men 'dogging' in the woods - the firemen are being punished for prejudice and homophobia and even racism! I really don't get the logic behind that!

IMO the project isn't political correctness or "tolerance" in any respect, in protecting with se. its incorrect "Tolerance". I actual might want to seem at it from the attitude of the US..... some issues are allowed/tolerated/inspite of interior the united kingdom, by utilizing the christians even, that would want to correctly be stunning to the yank point of view. the actual incontrovertible truth that this stuff are allowed for the CHRISTIANS signifies that "tolerance" outcomes in this stuff being allowed for others. and thats no longer neccesarily a sturdy element. interior the US, all of us has to adhere to an same guidelines. this restricts some issues which aren't from now on restricted interior the united kingdom, besides the undeniable fact that it also prevents certain complications that ensue interior the united kingdom. woult the christians interior the united kingdom be keen to have their non secular freedoms be tempered with a extra secular baseline, with a view to grant a extra even keel to different non secular expressions? interior the US, different "complications" that that author refers to... might want to be improbable! the entire gadget is dampened hostile to those very issues, by utilizing an earthly mass that restrains the institution of religion. even as interior the US, some human beings might want to act as nonetheless an identical problem is occurring, (and, bizzarely, waiting to do it on occasion with a lot less vile racism and separationism) the project isn't almost as prevalent as they make it out to be. the actual incontrovertible truth that this: "those info talk extra to the crippled state of the Church of england" seems suitable, or is even of any meaning, is the very center of the project. it type of feels blatantly glaring to me that the entire problem in truth, pretty a lot each of the united kingdom's complications, come from an historic festering wound that hasn't ever been fastened. it is made sparkling by utilizing the actual incontrovertible truth that interior the US, it replaced right into a founding theory to no longer enable this wound to be carried over to united states of america of america. "shall make no regulation respecting an institution of religion, or prohibiting the loose workout thereof;" its extremely... sickeningly... quite, ironic. the element that the author of that article is striving for... is the very rationalization for the project.
