I seem to be living on 7 hours at the moment, but it never feels enough, problem is, being a night owl, I can't seem to fall asleep before 12am even though I try! What time you get to bed and how many hours do you get?

I normally get between 7 and 8 - even on the weekends, I seem to wake up naturally after 8 hours.

Funnily enough, on BBC Breakfast yesterday, they had the results of a 10 year sleep study which showed that if you REGULARLY get less than 5 hours sleep, you are shortening your lifespan. But if you regularly get MORE than 8 hours, you are doing just as much damage.

If you're feeling tired, try to catch up a couple of hours on the weekend, not necessarily overnight, but maybe through naps in the afternoon.

I find it's different every night. I can go to sleep early, then be awake from 2am - or go to sleep about 11pm and not want to get up in the morning.

I am trying to sleep when I am tired and learn that if I am awake, I have had enough sleep and should just lay and relax, or start my day early.

Try to make yourself go to bed early. Perhaps make sure you have a busy, busy day with lots of fresh air and exercise. Wind down early and don't get on the computer or watch tv too late.

If it doesn't get any better, go to the doctor. You may have a thyroid or iron level problem.
