I have an equal amount of both. It always irks me when I hear women say "I have more male friends than female because women are this and that ..." I think that's a lame excuse. I had SIX brothers and no sisters. If anyone could say they were able to figure out and get along better with men I'd say it was me. Getting along with people is a choice. You get what you give. If someone's a jerk they're a jerk no matter their sex.
I have always had tons of great female friends because YOUR attitude determines how you get along with others and how you let others treat you. When I hear women say that they don't get along with other women ... 9 out of 10 times they need to take a look at their own attitude and realize maybe it's something THEY'RE doing wrong. I don't allow people - women or men - to treat me badly and that comes across pretty clear. When people find out I'm a good person worth knowing I rarely have problems because they don't want to lose a good friendship.
It's just another form of prejudice if you ask me when we label ANYONE for who or what they are. Put some effort into really liking and getting to know anyone ... and I've found they turn out to be a pretty good friend ... regardless.

My personal opinion is to have more same sex friends than of the opposite sex. Yet have 2 or 3 of the opposite sex which will help you know opposite sex interesting people. WORKS FOR ME.

I'd have to say that right now I have more friends of the opposite sex. I am a stay at home dad, so I have more contact with the mothers of my kids' friends.

same sex but i used to have a lot of opposite sex friend before but my bf didn't like it so i have to stick with all girls now

tends to be the opposite sex,i think because i can share certain things with the ladies that i could with men.Plus i like being in the company of a lady,makes me feel relaxed and open
