In all their championships, the Patriots never had a stud running back (antowain smith). Corey Dillon used to be a stud, but by the time he came to us, he was in his down years. Morris got a TD and ran over 100 yards this Sunday and he is the backup. Maroney will be back and between them both they will be just fine. It's better to have two quality backs that can interchange between plays (one bruising, one finessing thru the lines) than to have one big stud. With this offensive line, any RB would be good here right now. The Pats never have the TOP quality players, except for maybe Brady. This year they have at least 4 TOP quality players on both sides of the ball. It's gonna be fun!

I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Maroney is a very good, young runningback, and Sammy Morris did a great job last week when Maroney was hurt. Kevin Faulk is a decent 3rd string back, and Heath Evans can carry the ball when he has to. If I had to pick an offensive weakness, I suppose that would be it, but they still are better off than 80% of the other teams in the NFL at that position.
I think their biggest concern should be their depth across the defense. They have quite a few good linebackers - Bruschi, Thomas, Colvin, Vrabel, Chad Brown, and Seau. However, all of them are 30+ years old. Can you trust any of them to last a full season? Most of them are on the downside of their career, and the season is pretty long. If 2 or more miss significant time with injuries (a real possibility), do you trust the other guys on your bench, even for spot duty?
I would have thought their depth at safety would make them vulnerable while Harrison has been out, but James Sanders has played much better than I would have guessed, and the rotation they've been using has impressed me.
The most confusing thing to me is their depth at corner. It seems every year they have some problem with it, and yet, they never seem to sign enough. Right now, they only have 3 true corners on their team (Meriweather and Willie Andrews play both safety and corner - both are more natural safeties). I would say it's a concern, but only if they have an injury, and as they've proven in the past, they somehow get by with no secondary.
Their line has played great, and when Seymour comes back, it'll be even better.... scary.

Corey Dillon was a stud RB with reasonable possibilities to join the HOF.
The just made a mistake taking Maroney instead of Addai in the 1st round, but they were obviously looking for another stud.

Don't you worry your pretty little heart.
It's not "studs" their short on. It's running backs.
It is their biggest "weakness."
The "courts" are filled with them now. <}:-})
