All life in about a 1,000 mile radius would be snuffed out and an ice age would envelope the entire planet, destroying civilization.

Kilometer wide asteroid, striking Chicago? Yeah, that would probably kill all life on the planet if it knocked up enough dust. I believe the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs was only a mile in diameter.

If such an event occurred, then this political silliness would be recognized as the irrelevant banter that it is. There would simply be no more life as we know it; within a week-10 days, people the world over would worry less about skin color, gender, religion than they would about merely surviving.

An event like that would have a similar effect as the meteor that took out the dinosaurs.

Everything from the Rockies to the Smokies east to west and the middle of Texas to way up in Canada would be flattened from the initial concussion.

Dust would cloud the atmosphere world wide blotting out the sun.

Plants would wither and die animals would freeze to death or starve.

Life as we know it would be all over and no one would be around to care.

I agree. There are more pressing concerns than screeching about what this website or that radio talk show host said. I for one want to know why the Democrats haven't kept up their end of the deal they made to get elected?

They promised certain things would get done and have delivered on exactly one of the 100+ things they promised. I am beginning to think they lied just to get elected.

We could hold a forum on gay marriage and abortion. All the hot air from the pandering of each party to the religious right would deflect the meteor. Of course, we might evaporate lake Michigan but that's a small price to pay.
